Like you I was told not to have kids (I have 3), I was told i couldn't run (but I do, just carefully) You can do way more than what anyone else says...

Only YOU can stop you.

Go for it....even if you start off with a simple brisk walk, do a quick jaunt and back to that for a bit...each day, each time you will feel stronger.

You. Can. Do. This!

Hey there.

I've always wanted to be a runner. I'm been envious of the whole idea for my whole life. Descriptions of "Runner's High" and the look of victory on people's faces in pictures from beating personal goals, or finishing a challenging race. I want that.

Thing is, I've been told I can't be a runner. In school, doctors, friends, tons of people. I've gotten this message that fat chicks can't run. I've had professionals advise me against it - that I'd hurt myself too badly. That was before I piled on the "extra" weight - that was when I was merely overweight and not obese. Now, at 220+, I certainly can't run, right?

Well, I have also been told I couldn't have children, and I have two. I was told I couldn't walk away from an abusive ex, and I'm in a wonderful, healthy relationship. I was told I couldn't quit smoking cold turkey after 16 years without pills or anything, and I've been smoke-free since September 30th, 2011. I was told I couldn't go back to school at my age, and I've got my Associates and am working on my Bachelor's.

I. Want. To. Run.

I am determined, but scared. I'm nervous that something I've always wanted, but never told anyone about, might be the one thing I really can't do. But I've got a treadmill. I've got a goal race in August. I've got support. Maybe once I've got some confidence, I'll be able to move the project outdoors. My program's going to be Mon/Wed/Fri. I start February 4th. I'm willing to re-do weeks if I need to, and I have time to do each one two or sometimes three times if I need to before my goal race. I'll be running in the RUN FOR YOUR LIVES! Zombie 5k in Seattle on August 24th.
