my husband and I just started this today. I was not a happy camper, but I'm proud that I made it through the first session! Just have to stay positive and convince myself that I can do it!

Thank you both for all your encouragement! This is something I think I need to do. Working out is usually a fun thing for me, well, at least when I am in the right frame of mind and trying to be a healthier me. That said, I want this time to be the LAST time I have to do this weight loss endeavor. I want this time to be the time I make it to GOAL and build the rest of my life as a healthier me. I know exercise is a huge component to that goal. And running is one of those things that I have always hated, yet been jealous of people who can and do run. So I am going to give this a serious go and I do hope to be pleasantly surprised!!

All my life I hated exercise of any type, especially running, until I started working on getting healthy 3 years ago. I'm 57 and never would have guessed that I would like running and do 5k races. I know you can do this. As you work through the program, don't worry about what anyone else is doing. Go at a slow pace to build up the endurance. If you run too fast it gets too hard and we get discouraged and give up. If you have to repeat days, or even weeks, that fine too because many of us have done that. You don't have to work through the program in the 9 weeks it suggests. If you do, that's great too but don't feel pressured to do that. It doesn't matter how slow or fast you are, it matters that you are doing it and outdoing everyone who is sitting on the couch doing nothing. Be proud of every accomplishment because just starting this is a huge accomplishment. You can do this! And if you find you still hate running that's okay, just find something you do enjoy. But many of us have been surprised to find out how addicted we become to something we always hated before.

emoticon ?..it may not be easy but if you're determined and go at your own pace you'll be able to reach your goal. I did it and then a half marathon - no broken records but it's a great feeling when you achieve your goal! Best of luck and believe in yourself!

Hello from Las Vegas!

I have known about C25K for many years and have come very close to trying it a couple of times, each time I chickened out! But, I think I am ready to give this a try.

I absolutely hate running, mostly because I have never been any good at it. I can't pace myself and I have horrible endurance. And that was in high school! Now - 21 yrs later and 80 pounds heavier, this is going to be a challenge! LOL I want to prove to myself that I can do this and would love to enter a 5k when I am done. I know my sons would love to go running with me, so that's motivation right there!
