Hi and welcome to the team! For one thing, make sure you are running slow enough. Often we start off trying to run too fast. Speed can come later. So if you're getting really out of breath or other things, try slowing down. That may help you legs build up better too. Also do stretching after you run. There are a lot of good stretches for runners here on SP. In the fitness section of articles there is a whole section devoted to articles about running and information.
Good luck!

Ooh I might try some yoga, I have problems with sore muscles after I've jogged. Good luck with your running!

Hi everyone,

Just stopping by to introduce myself and say "hi." I am new to running. I wanted an activity I could do on my own time and with my dog. Running seemed like the right fit. However, I had no idea where to start. Thanks to the "new girl" at work, I was convinced that I should go for 10k (that was within an hour of her starting with us, she's very convincing!)

Anyway, I downloaded the 10k runner app to my phone and decided to give it a whirl. I have just completed week 1 yesterday and will be starting week 2 tomorrow. I'm finding my legs are cramping up, which I'm sure is normal, especially as we have 235 pounds running on them! So today I started a yoga program at home too for stretching.

I'm a bit nervous as I've never been a runner, but I'm confident I can do it and I am enjoying it. Looking forward to getting to know others who are learning this sport too!

Dee
