35ANGELS That's great! Side stitches I think are suppose to do with your breathing...to much labored breathing I think...something like that. My legs are doing okay and now it's my ankle. I'm out of running until next Tuesday. It's feeling much better today, so hopefully by Tuesday it'll be good. My physical therapist is going to KT tape it Monday for Tuesdays run too. Yes we can walk for the 3 miles. We'll be running 2 minutes walking 1 1/2 minutes for 3 miles...that's what they're up too, me I'm on 2 miles, but next week I'll move up to 2 1/2 miles. So I'm getting there just much slower than the rest of the group. By the time the 5K get here I will have just done 3 miles. So the 5K may be tough for me, but I'm gonna try it.

I finally was able to run almost all of the 3 minutes of week 3. I did the 90 sec. just fine,
and only had to stop for maybe 20 sec in the middle of both the 3 minute runs. So
proud of myself. emoticon

Maybe I won't be on week 3 forever! emoticon

Kim- Sorry your legs are giving you problems. Do you have to run the 3 mile all the way through, or can you take walking breaks.

One think I had today that I have never experienced before was a side pain during the 3 minute run. Don't know why that happened, but I sure didn't like it.

Thanks. I did yesterdays W8D1 and afterwards my ankle pain came right back. It's swollen today. So probably going to have to take at least a week off. Maybe more who knows. So that means when I start back the mileage will have gone up another 1/2 mile and running intervals will increase b/c the walking decreases 30 more seconds. I'm getting behind the group. They're up to running 3 miles, I'm still on 2 miles. The 5K is soon and it's 3 miles, so I've got to work up to 3 miles sometime. At this point, I'm just hoping I'll be able to run again soon.

Unfortunately I had to miss Saturday's long run. My left ankle has been hurting since after our run Thursday and I thought it would have gone away by Saturday, but it didn't, so I figure I better not push it and wait until the pain in completely gone, so I don't make it worse. It's feeling better today. It didn't start hurting until a little while after our run on Thursday. My legs are finally doing better, so I don't need my ankles to get worse now. So didn't wanna push it. I'm a little behind the group in that they are doing 3 miles on Saturdays and the farthest I have ran is 2 1/4 miles so far. Hopefully, I'll be able to do my 3 miles next Saturday. I hate being behind, but trying to stay positive ...at least I'm still able to run and do the Tuesdays & Thursdays with the group.

I think I'm going to be repeating week 3 a few times. It doesn't seem to be getting any easier. With the crappy weather we are having, I'm lucky to be able to get out 2 times this week. I'm worried I'm going to lose all the progress I've been making emoticon

Thanks! 35ANGELS I'm in a Fleet Feet Sports No Boundaries Beginners Couch to 5K program and wow my program is so different. We didn't have 90 second runs until Weeks 5 & 6. And we don't even have any 3 minute runs in our program at all. Our very last run is run 2 minutes & walk 1 minute. They do have another group that does run 3 minutes, but they are the intermediate group...were beginner. I feel fortunate to be able to run for 2 minutes ... I can't imagine running 3 minutes. I understand how tough that must be. In my program we're not able too, but if you can repeat weeks. But you can do it & eventually you will get it!

Hi, I did w3d1 and I did pretty good on the 90 sec run, but not very good on the 3 min runs. i had to stop a few times. The last 3 min run,my legs felt like lead. I did have a little pain on the outside of my right leg, between the knee and the ankle.

I think It's going to take me more than a week to get that 3 minute run down. emoticon

Surprise! I made it through yesterdays No Boundaries Training Couch to 5K and ran every 2 minute interval for 2 miles. Did this with a cold (was such a pain cause my nose kept running) and NO leg pain! Now Thursday may be totally different dunno, but it was all good yesterday! I also have physical therapy Thursday...not gonna tell her I'm running unless she asks. :-I I went at a slow & steady pace and even got to stay with the rest of the group b/c they went at a slow pace today too. Now if they could do that all the time I may just make it!

Thanks! W6D3 was 2 3/4 miles, but I only did 2 miles instead. I just was not feeling that great with this cold...nose stopped up and coughing. Plus my legs were hurting some, so I quit while I was ahead. I didn't want to push it. I did Saturdays walk/run at home on my treadmill. Still worried about this week being that we increase running time to 2 minutes. This may be the end of the line for me since they keep progressing whether you can do it or not. I'm still trying to master 1 1/2 minutes, but I guess I'll try it...all I can do is try my best.

I just did W6D2 and unfortunately don't have the luxury of repeating weeks because I'm doing the C25K program with a group. So they move on with or without you. But you can repeat weeks and I would! Repeat week 2 again if you have too and slow down your running pace. If you have to stop a few seconds short on your running intervals then so be it. But you will get it eventually. Don't give up! You can do it! As far as the cool weather. I tend to be hot, so I'm still wearing short sleeves with cropped pants. But you could wear moisture wicking tights/pants then wear a long sleeved moisture wicking shirt with a vest or maybe a windbreaker and some gloves and a hat...fleece I think they say is good to keep you warm. Also here is a website at Runners World where you can plug in the weather information and how you like to feel when you run and it will tell you what to wear. http://www.runnersworld.com/cda/whattowear

HI, I'm trying to do Week 2, but it is kickin by butt!. I've done it for 2 weeks now. The first week, I only ran every second interval, this week i'm trying to run all intervals, and I am about 5-10 sec short on each one but the 1st.

Will I ever get it? Oh, I'm 235 lbs, so that's why I'm taking it so slow, but I didn't think I'd have much trouble until week 4 lol

It is also starting to get cold here, what does everyone wear when it get's cold or starts to rain. I don't want to stop because of the weather. I live in BC Canada, so rain is a fact of life here. lol

I just completed W6D1 with the group on the asphalt and it was tough I have to admit! My breathing has been harder since we have gone up to the 1 1/2 minutes runs. Mainly when we get about 1 mile into our 2 mile runs my breathing gets pretty heavy. We are now running like 15 minutes. My lower legs are doing some better, they didn't hurt at all until about 1 3/4 of a mile so I slowed my pace down which allowed me to make it to the end and the pain never got worse. So there was still some mild pain, but not near as bad as it had been the last couple of times. My doctor prescribed me an anti-inflammatory drug and I have physical therapy Thursday, so hopefully that will help continue to improve my legs. Depending on how my legs do the next few days, my coaches have told me to maybe occasionally do my training on the treadmill instead of with the group on the asphalt. We will see what the future holds.

Did W5D3 of the C25K at home on my treadmill successfully! While I did have a little bit of new pain on my inner right shin, I had absolutely NO PAIN in my lower legs where I usually do. Hopefully the new pain will go will be fine with a couple days rest. It wasn't too bad. So not only did I do 1 1/2 miles, but I did well over that and did today's required 2 1/4 miles. My breathing seemed to also be a tad easier on the treadmill. Not a lot, but a tad. I also set the incline on 2 to more mimic outside running like they said to. For some reason the interval times seem to pass by so quickly and it seemed like I did twice as many running & walking intervals at home than I do at outside training with the group. Also at home it took me 40 minutes and our training is usually about 25-30 minutes I think. I'm just happy I was able to do it mostly pain free. So I will still see what the Dr. says Monday and get a couple days rest & hopefully I can try Tuesdays training with the group again.

Did W5D2 but had to stop a few seconds short on 3 of the running intervals. My breathing was horrible tonight. Was gasping for air. Then of course my legs started hurting too. Somehow I still ran all the intervals, just cut 3 a few seconds short. Today was 1 1/2 miles Saturday is 2 1/4 miles and I really don't think my legs will make it. Heck dunno if my breathing will either at this point. Anyway, coaches told me to talk Saturday off from the group and try to run it at home on my treadmill. That way I'll have a softer surface and I can also stop as soon as I feel pain. This way I still get some training in & won't get so far behind. And of course, I go to the doctor on Monday. Disappointed & frustrated, but I'm doing everything I can to not give up.

Tomorrow I begin W4D1. Today was my off day from running so I did Turbo Jam ST & cardio. I have a week & half left of my maternity leave & I really want to be out of these dang maternity clothes & into regular clothes. I got on a size 12 pants today but couldn't button them. I'm hoping by the time I go back to work I can button them. I'm so excited that I'm finally able to exercise regularly again.

"Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles. And let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us, fixing our eyes on Jesus, the pioneer and perfecter of faith. For the joy set before him he endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God. Consider him who endured such opposition from sinners, so that you will not grow weary and lose heart."

I did W5D1 yesterday, but it wasn't pain free or without struggle. My legs hurt again. They seem to only hurt when I run. Actually when I stop running and walk...when I flex my foot up. Seems like that muscle is weak. Anyway, I have a Dr. Appt on Monday to see what she says. The pain seems to go away after I'm done. I mean I have usual muscle soreness, but nothing out of the ordinary. Yesterday the intervals increased we ran for a total of about 12-15 minutes so it was harder yesterday too.

Congrats FEMISLIM that is totally awesome! The 5K to 10K will be a breeze! Unfortunately, due to my legs, mainly my right one, I had to sit today's W4D3 out. Hopefully with any luck my legs will be good to go and I'll be able to do W5D1 on Tuesday.

Thanks ya'll! I've been icing & stretching. Yesterday Fleet Feet Sports showed me some massages I could do too. I also bought me some compression sleeves. I'm also going to try to run with a mid foot strike today and lean forward more when running & walking, so hopefully with all these things it'll be better ...I pray it will. Wish me luck on W2D2 today! And congrats to ya'll. Your both doing such a fantastic job!

It shouldn't and won't end it with all the precautions you are taking Kim. From my experience, mid foot strike is the best for running. It has kept my free from injuries thus far. Keep going, we will achieve our goals!!!

Yay! W9D1 awesome! Did my Week 4 Day 1 yesterday and my breathing was good, but my legs, especially my right gave me a fit. Seems like the beginnings of shin splints. So gonna continue to ice and stretch more. And going to try compression sleeves and a pressure point roller to loosen my muscles. And I think I'll also try to mid foot strike instead of heel striking. I'm determined not to let this end my running.

Thanks Kim. You are also doing great. What App are you using? I use couch-to-5k by active.com. The website is also supportive. Let me know the one you are using. It is always good to know about other ones.

Starting week 3 today. Hopefully I can upgrade the APP that I am using. The first two weeks were free and i need to get the upgraded version but cant do it on my phone for some reason. I guess I'll need to call Verizon today.

Femislim- You are in the home stretch!!! Keep going, you're almost there emoticon
