I have gone up and down a bit but I've pretty much been in the 160's since I was 14 years old! That's nearly 20 years! I'm ready to move on. I am hoping some recent changes in my life will help me finally lose the weight I need to.

For the first time in 11 years (1/3 of my life), I am not pregnant, not breastfeeding, and only my husband and I sleep in our bed! I have 4 sons and care for my disabled mother-in-law. I've lost 20 lbs in the past two years. I was 192 when we moved here to care for MIL.

I am now at 167. I was about 169 in January and stayed there until July, now I've dropped 2 lbs and now that I have weaned my youngest I am hoping to put forth the effort required to lose this weight. I am 5'7" so 159 would be the top of my "healthy range". I have set a goal for myself to be down to that by Sept. 24th (my husband's birthday). I am fearful that I will not be able to reach that goal because my weight loss has always been very slow (last year I lost only 12 pounds the whole year). But I still want to shoot for that goal.

Ultimately I want to be down to the 130's.

In June I walked for 60 minutes a day 5 days a week, but did not see any results. In July I have started doing 30-60 minutes a day of walking and 15 minutes of strength exercises. I'd like to kick that amount up to 30 now if I can. I'm going to aim to start doing that next week.

Even though I've only lost 2 lbs this month I have already received compliments that I am looking thinner. I can only guess the strength training is paying off. Seriously though, I'm so tired of being in the 160's. I want to be healthy and fit!

I should confess I have an addiction to sweets. I have gone without from time to time, once for several months! But I can't seem to get that area under control. My goal right now is not to have any sweets until my son's birthday on August 26th. I sure hope I can make it but I'm not sure I can.

Anyway, I hope to encourage and find encouragement here. God bless you!
