Welcome, and be strong. Your illness is not your fault, and it does not make you less of a person. There are many ways to find meaning in life-You just have to seek them out! You cannot change the fact that you have an illness-You must change your reaction to living with it.

Welcome, and hugs.

Are you an Atheist or Agnostic looking for support??

Hi Heather, Welcome to the group, I know how you feel about Lupus, my youngest daughter had it. I joined this grouped becuz my fiance is 100% disable vietnam vet. and he has his days with PTSD, medical problems, I am now myself on disability do to my medical issues.
I just wanted to welcome you to the group and just remember take one day at a time and this group and other groups are all here to help each other. if you want to write or just chat just send me a note.Your husband needs to give you more support and be there for you not just run from your illness.I dont see why you cant go back to school vocational rehab is suppose to be there for you to help you get back to do the things you need and want to do. where do you live if i may ask? I live in MN.
I would try to talk to a different vocal. rehab counselor and see what he/she has to say. I feel helpless now that i cant work, it drives me nuts. I sit home all done, but i do some volunteering at the v.a in st.cloud, mn by driving veterans to appointment and back home and some office work.If i sit home i eat and that doesnt help. I will say a prayer for you and you keep in touch take care and god bless. kat 1-6-08

Hello everyone! I saw this web site on a show I watched yesterday, and it looked interesting. I've been looking for some sort of support. I don't know a lot of people in my neighborhood, and my husband is alright...but not much support. He's of the view that since I am very sick, I should endulge.

I was in the USAF from 1993 to 1997 as a C-5 Galaxy Loadmaster. It was fun, exciting, adventerous, paid well, and I got to travel the world...then 3 years into my enlistment, I got ill. I was taken off flying status. :( I was not medically discharged, but I was not able to reeinlist because of the unknown illness. About 6 months after I got out, I was diagnosed with Systemic Lupus. I have had some very serious medical problems in the last 10 years, some of which have almost taken my life. But my biggest problem now is feeling useless. I can't work because of the illness, I was turned down by Vocational Rehab and can't go back to school, also because of the illness, and I am too sick to bear children...so what is there for me? Right now I am focusing on my health, and making my quality of life better. I hope to find the support I so desperately need among the people here at Spark.

Heather
