Hi Brooke, I live in Denver metro area & love hiking too. Did my first 14er with my sister 2 years ago, had to work up to it for sure but it was doable. Have fun hiking

The best way to get into good hiking fitness is to hike! The best way to gain endurance is to keep getting out as much as possible, and doing a little more each time. emoticon

I have some really close (like walk out the door) trails that I like to travel, but the best ones around here require a little driving (Lake Tahoe!).

Thank you!

We have a really local trail that I'll probably take tomorrow. There are really so many beautiful trails around here that it's almost overwhelming, but I might as well start super local.

I might take one Saturday in September to do the bottom of the Barr trail. The lower section of the trail is rated as moderate, but I don't have to be fast or anything.

Hi Brooke!

Even if you can't get all the way to the top of a 14er, go ahead and do what you can - they are BEAUTIFUL! My family and I were just out there earlier this summer and enjoyed the hiking. Elbert and Quandry are AMAZING!

All the best to you as you follow your journey to health and wellness!

Hello!

I'm Brooke. I enjoy hiking, although at the moment I'm training for a 5k in September. My church has a group that hikes 14ers in the summer, and while I'm not capable of doing one yet, I hope to be able to do them next summer.

We have a pretty easy hiking trail that I can walk to from my house, and there are more difficult trails within driving distance.
