Definitely. Hiking is my escape from the stresses of life, so I take my sweet time. My biggest goal is to move past my current limitations when it comes to terrain. I've only recently been comfortable on a 1 mile moderate level trail. I underestimated a 2-miler this spring and want to make sure that never happens again.

I think it's a good idea to have a plan to follow, and don't hesitate to repeat a week if you have any difficulties with it.

I think those types of walk/run plans translate pretty well to hiking, although remember that the terrain on the trail will be more difficult, and will slow you down, so don't worry about trail speed, just enjoy the journey!

I'm following a walk-to-run plan. My pace has gotten so much better since I started. Stamina, too. I'm looking forward to trying out that stamina on a new trail.

HI, Marla, only been in TN once, but Walking in Memphis is playing in my head from last nights Voice and probably will on my hike today - will be thinking of those leafy forests as I go! And welcome to the group!

I'm Marla. I'm 32 and have been hiking since a very early age. I was sick for a long time and put on a lot of weight, which made getting out there much harder than it used to be. I'm getting back in shape, though, and my short-term goal is to be able to participate in Long Hunter State Park's Mega Hike, which covers 26 miles of trails in a single day. I hope to be able to do this by the end of 2018. It's nice to meet you all!
