Thanks for the suggestion. I'll have a look-see. Meanwhile if I'm lucky I might be able to actually go and have a hike/walk. My Sweetie is now in the hospital for a couple of days at least, maybe several days. That will mean I can go out and not worry about hurrying home to change bandages and give medicine.

OTOH I also desperately need to clean out his dempster dumpster of a room. I asked him if he'd allow me to do some serious cleaning in there. It's pretty bad. I have to prioritize and decide what to do first.

Can you do HIIT? There was a video recently on the spark blog with a HIIT video by one of the bloggers that had high and low impact options. Might be a good way to get in a workout since you don't have a lot of time, and you can do it at home.

take care! emoticon

Use it or lose it. I absolutely MUST get back to vigorous exercise, and I MUST get back to good strong walking. It's shocking how fast we lose it when we aren't keeping our fitness up. I think of a year ago when I completed a 25K hike over three dreadful mountains. But now after a deadly winter and just too much caregiving responsibility I'm overweight and weak. Not a good situation!

Sounds like you have some resources, even if all are not as helpful as you'd like, do take care! Even just a half hour walk around the neighborhood might be rejuvenating. I know it helps me recenter and adjust.

Thanks for responding, Kayotic. At this point I can still leave the house for a time. What I don't feel good about doing any more is being far away for most of the day. I need to be nearby and checking in at home frequently.

We have lots and lots of doctor appointments. And right now there are nurse visits. These things interfere with getting to Jazzercise and Curves. I am finding it hard to make any plans to hike, because things keep happening.

I need to get back to exercising with videos here at the house, and do walking nearby in the neighborhood.

I did go several times to the Office of the Aging, but they weren't particularly helpful. Things are stressful, and it's time once again to try to find help from agencies. If the Office of the Aging isn't helpful, there may be another agency that has something useful.

Thanks for talking with me.

That's a tough one Laurance, can you get some respite help so you can have some time to take care of yourself as well? You don't want to lose the ability to take care of yourself in the midst of taking care of your loved one...maybe even just a half hour here and there to get out and walk your neighborhood would do you well. emoticon

I'm here. I subscribed to this team a while ago.

But I don't know how much hiking is going to happen this year. I'm a caregiver, and my Sweetie whom I care for is deteriorating. I can't get out the way I did last year. I'm not exercising like I did before.

But I'm staying on this team. I haven't given up yet.

Hello everyone!
I love being outdoors and close to nature and the best way to do that is hiking! I live along a river valley and enjoy an extensive trail system along it. I have been fortunate enough to see beaver, muskrat, coyotes, deer, pelicans, the rare heron, bald eagles, owls and plenty of rabbits. Our winters are long and very cold, but I will still get out if the windchill isn't too dangerous. When I take a vacation, I center it around where I can take hiking tours. I am single, never married and frequently take long hikes with my Mom and Darling Dog Daisy who appreciates the bountiful supply of rabbits, mice and gophers to chase! I have had RA since age 6.5, have had 33 surgeries and five joint replacements, but have never let that stop me from doing the activities I love!
Happy to be here!
