I was carrying a bear vault for 2 as well as other items for 2. Glad I brought extra clothes it got below freezing. No tent, used lean to.

That much for an overnighter? I carry less than that for a 14 day backcountry trip.

Admittedly, I certainly started out that way, but after really punishing my knees on a steep descent, I decided things needed to change.

Seriously, it is worth investing the effort in lightening your load (start with 'spare' clothing) to make things much more enjoyable on the trail.

Spent the night on Mt. Greylock. I believe that was April 2012. It was a heavy load. Almost didn't make it to the top. emoticon
