Welcome! This is a fabulous post. I would recommend you take is and make a blog post with it. They you will have a permanent record of the start of your journey!

I wanted to check out your page, but it is set to private.

One thing I would suggest is: Keep collecting Spark Friends like candy!! It is calorie free and they always give you something to "chew on"!!

You can just "friend" them...no need to ask. We are friendly and don't bite!

You can find motivation and inspiration from everyone here, even those that are struggling (because you know how they feel!!) Welcome new people, Join teams, blog, join challenges, blog, be excited, blog. And did I mention: blog? The future fabulous you will want to look back at your journey and will want to encourage others!! When the excitement wanes (it WILL!!) put down your pom poms and lurk in the background, (but don't leave and don't do too much damage) and wait for the tide to turn...pick up your oars and keep rowing.

You can do this!!

When I took my best friend's kids on their inaugural hike up Waterman, I was giving them the basics on the drive there about preparation, safety and flora/fauna, etc. It wasn't until I saw other hikers in the distance that I realized that I failed to tell them a key thing about hiking. "Don't get freaked out, but these people will probably talk to us." What? This is LA. You can get on an elevator or live next door for months and not get eye contact. The kids were great and we exchanged several bouts of "how far ya goin" "don't miss the x,y,z up there" and oh yes the one that really freaked them out "you good?" It took some explaining that people actually offered help to each other. I've been hiking my whole life and put my father's ashes down on the JMT last summer. One of my prime goals is to be strong so that when I retire so I can hike the PCT. I carry a Dana Design Terra Plane (i know i know, but it is sooooo comfortable!) and have pledged my eternal love to the Vasques that coddle my candy$&@ feet. I don't even have a stroll in the woods planned right now which is why I'm counting on you guys! I'm a baby Sparker at 3 weeks (down 3 pounds) and joined the mileage team goal which my Cattle Dog is thrilled about!
