So true! Welcome to the team. I still have some weight to lose, but have lost some. When I first started hiking again 4 1/2 years ago after gaining back weight I had briefly lost a few years before, my "hikes" were driving to a forest road (I live right outside of a national forest). I would then get out and walk 10 minutes down the road away from the car, then turn around and walk back. Gradually increased it. I also always carry a chair-in-a-bag in my car, and I would sit and read a book and just enjoy being out in nature after I finished my "hike". Now I can hike for several miles up and down some pretty good hills. Small steps sometimes!

Hi Laura,

Just want to encourage you, I also am a grandmother and have a great deal of weight to lose. It is very hard to lose but with the right motivation you can do anything. Losing weight for me has also become a career and my health has suffered from it. I am looking forward to moving forward and becoming healthier daily with the choices I make. God Bless!!

Hi, Everyone.

I am a empty-nester and grandmother who wants to restart her life, and who has tried to lose weight for decades, but who does not believe in looking back. (I've been on Spark before and got sidelined when I tried to start running & tearing a tendon in my foot.) So, I am back now with great conviction. I know what to eat, know how to slowly recover, and I exercise as best as I can. I only need help discovering the patience it takes to lose a great deal of weight. Are you here for the long haul? I am starting a career as an author and live a very busy life. However, I think some things are most important: friends, family and good health. I've come to believe that if we don't take time to enjoy these three daily, all other parts of our lives become unbalanced also. Wishing you all good health, certain weight loss, and the courage to hang in there for the long haul, especially on slow and difficult days and during the occasional setback that we may all endure. Remember, it's not the number on the scale or how you feel about it -- it's what you chose to do consistently that will make the difference.
