emoticon to the team! I'm so glad you found us and found hiking - it's also my first choice of exercise and I don't have any trouble getting myself to do it, haha! Happy trails!

Glad you found something you love to do and burn those calories. I also live in North Carolina and we have so many fantastic places to hike. I prefer going in cooler weather though, so in a few more weeks I'll be back up in the mountains on a trail.

Have a great week and enjoy your hikes!

Hi yall. New to the team but not to SP. It recently struck me that hiking is something I can do for my cardio. I hate any form of exercise, I find it quite boring, but I have always loved being in the woods. From the age that my mother finally let me go out alone, I spent hours in my grandparents land in the woods. When I got older I started hitting the trails in the mountains close to home and of course life happened and I only did it sporadically until not at all.

So I consider myself a "baby hiker" starting all over again. We went out yesterday to DuPont State Forest, and I absolutely loved it and we had a great day. I was quite tired when we got home, but it felt like a good kind of tired. And I wasn't even sore this morning. Would be afraid I couldn't walk because we did so many hills. We have several areas around here where we plan to build up our endurance (hubby is doing it with me) and get used to carrying packs, then hopefully next spring can start planning longer, overnight trips.

I am just super excited that I FINALLY found an exercise that I like and can enjoy. I have tried everything and tolerated most then finally just quit.

Tomorrow we are heading to another state park close by to do a short hike with the dog. Hoping we can get 2-3 hikes in a week. We have several places around here to chose from so we can keep it fresh.
