I'm Maggie 31 years old mother of 3 boys and currently trying for my girl. I weigh 242lbs as of 3 weeks ago, the good thing about that is that I never look what I weigh but I feel it. I have tried prior to this and thought it was pretty ok but after a while I stopped using it I just wasn't motivated anymore. I decided to give it another try and by fooling around with apps I came across Sparkpeople and so far I have no complaints of course I'm still figuring out some things but everything takes time right ...Well, I am Latina and like many other cultures we are shown to eat like a pig from birth. It's a way to embrace family how we show love and manners to company, there's no get together without huge meals. With that being said it may get very difficult to stay on track when around family. The biggest difference for me now is before all I envisioned was the number on the scale it was not about healthy living. Now I've learned that in order for this to work for me I must make it a lifestyle not a quick fix. I love being Latina and I totally embrace the culture but I am very aware of the scary health statistics we have I just refuse to add to that number. On another note my husbands an amazing chef which is a pro and a con for me. He loves to cook for me :) but he is not on board with the health changes I've made and the ones I'm still working on so I still have to cook for him everything choose to not eat myself, trust me it really becomes a battlefield for me. The kids well, lets just say anything that doesn't look attractive in their eyes doesn't get swallowed, another struggle but not in impossibility. As far as my goal, I don't like to focus on numbers. I've seen many people weigh themselves every week just to see those digits change because that's the only way they find satisfaction. They lose focus on what's in important and then eventually gain all of it right back because once they hit that number they stopped. You can lose lbs and not burn fat. I've learned and am still learning to listen to my body, look in the mirror if I like what I see and I feel good inside I'm doing the right thing. I am working towards a lifestyle not a quick fix.
