Funny that so many of you are from Freehold ... I worked there for years and years ... I worked in the education department of a local museum.

Interesting to find people on this site who are practically neighbors.

One of the things I've decided is that I'm too isolated and have been since my husband died ... it's only been in the last few months that I've really started to feel like I need to break out of it.

The hard part for has been that a lot of the friends my husband and I had drifted away after he passed away ... We had a good life together, and I guess even after all this time I'm foundering a bit to figure out what's next. It's hard to do alone.

I am from Freehold too, I have been on this site for a few years, The first step is coming here!!! I too have battled a debilitating disease since 1993. I was diagnosed with Lupus and had a miserable 10 years!! I ballooned up to 230 lbs and couldnt get out of bed without being in pain every second of the day. Until the day that I took control of my life and found myself a new doctor and this website. Now I am 110 lbs lighter and much happier for it. the key is slow and steady, do what you can do, make it part of your daily routine, put it on your calendar as a to do task, if its there you will do it. and if you feel yourself slipping just give us a shout and we will talk you back on the bus to a better, happier and healthier life!!!
You can do this, all you have to do is believe!!!

Somewhere there is someone that dreams of your smile, and finds in your presence that life is worthwhile, so when you are lonely remember itís true, someone somewhere is thinking of you. --

Hi!

My name is Carole, and while I've been a member of Sparkpeople since spring, I've been in and out of the site. There's a lot to it, and I find it a little overwhelming. Some of it's a little disappointing, too ... I have a lot of weight to lose, and a visit to a rheumatologist last Friday confirmed that losing weight is the fastest way for me to get rid of the cane I have had to use since January (I was in physical therapy for 4 months to try and get a grip on the problems I have with arthritis in one knee).

I live about a mile from the Belmar/Spring Lake boardwalk, and it makes me sad that I can't walk it like I used to ...

I'm 47 and currently in remission for Hodgkins disease, with knee problems due to arthritis and lymphedema. My husband passed away 3 years ago, and it's taken me this long to get a hold of myself and try to get back into life. He was my best friend and losing him after ten years of marriage was almost more than I could bear. I had a relapse of my lymphoma after he died, and figured I was probably going to follow him. I had a birthday last month and had a chat with myself that three years later, I've come a long way and am certainly not on the verge of keeling over, so I need to do *something*.

I need to meet new people, make new relationships, and move forward ... somehow. I'm a bit at a loss where to start, to be honest.

Maybe introducing myself is a first step, eh?
