What do you like to do for fun? I like to color in adult coloring books, play games on the computer. volunteer my time at cancer charity events and I like to emroider

What diet are you following? I was doing the Sparkpeople Diabetic plan, I have made my own eating plan based off of it.

What is your favorite exercise? I love strength training with resistance bands

Do you have a personal challenge you are dealing this season? I would love to lose most of my belly and bust weight in these 2 months.

What do you like to do for fun?

I love love to write. Especially the blogs or posts and all the responses.

What diet are you following?

Low G.I. Diet, never been diabetic and i'm not and the DASH diet, don't have high blood pressure. A dr recommended the G.I Diet and my dad has HBP. I had high cholesterol with my blood test last year, not necessarily borderline cholesterol, dr not too concerned but i just have to eat a low-fat diet. Still i don't like the sound of that. I need to get on this challenge to prep me for my next physical, in 6 mos.

What is your favorite exercise?
Deep water aerobics but have had Atopic Dermatitis. putting that on hold. I am doing step aerobics provided the music is good, i get into it. I like the elliptical more. Spinning is good too, but impact activities are better for my hips. I like doing my body weight exercises which are my Physical Therapy exercises given to me years ago. when i do my cardio and those, i get toned and lose weight pretty good.

Do you have a personal challenge you are dealing this season?
Yes, boredom and junk food eating. If the junk food is out of the house and i have substituted healthy foods, make sure i update my music/list on my mp3, get my goal in on my Fitbit most days of the week, i'm okay. I am in remission with my Atopic Dermatitis so i'll have to watch that as well.

If you did a previous 5% Challenge tell us about it. Yes, I joined the Walkers Runners Joggers and Gadgeteers and the Teddy Bears! Loved both. This time around, I need to be extra diligent.

2 random fun facts about you? I have a silly sense of humor! And If it's a healthy recipe, well i'll try a crack at it and make it. I'm looking into more and different salad dressings now and different salad combinations.

Anything else you would like to share? Just when you think you've got it all figured out with weight loss, you haven't. I'm making a comeback this time around and I need to push myself now that summer has been over.

What do you like to do for fun? Being with my family.

What diet are you following? 80/20 good versus splurge, includes less junk more healthy food choices.

What is your favorite exercise? Walking and exercise videos.

Do you have a personal challenge you are dealing this season? Make progress in the right direction, since I gained all the weight back that I lost I dont want to do that again.

If you did a previous 5% Challenge tell us about it. I've did many since 2015. But I haven't done one since 2017.

2 random fun facts about you? I love to decorate cakes and take pictures especially my kids.

Anything else you would like to share? I'm looking forward to the challenge to get me back on track, looking forward to meeting new people and making new friends.

What is your name or nick name? MaryAnn It is a combination of my grandmother first names.

What do you like to do for fun?
My most favorite thing to do is to visit my 6 year old grandson in Phoenix. I try to see him along with his mom and dad at least once a month. I am lucky that I am retired and can visit them regularly.

My most second favorite thing to do is to travel both close and far. I love visiting different places in the US. I live in California so there are a lot of states to the east. Europe is fun but those trips only happen every 3 or 4 years.

What diet are you following? I follow a Mediteranean Diet although desserts and sugar are my downfall. I do try to stay away as much as possible and keep very little sweets in the house. However the sweet peaches of summer always encourage me to bring out my pie shells.

What is your favorite exercise? I do Tai Chi for balance 3 times a week, try to walk 2 miles a couple of times each week. I have been working with a trainer twice a month for the past few months to get back to doing a strength training routine without hurting myself. And I started water aerobics in May and really enjoy it.

Do you have a personal challenge you are dealing this season? Several family vacations and I have added 6 very stubborn pounds. I want to get them off before the Holidays arrive.

If you did a previous 5% Challenge tell us about it. I have been doing the 5% Challenge as a Casual Traveler for several years now and really find that it helps my motivation and commitment. This Fall Challenge I am going to be the Leader

2 random fun facts about you?
I love mystery stories and go to the used bookstores in the area looking for authors I have not read. Scary movies give me nightmares so I do not watch anything with too much action before I go to bed.

Anything else you would like to share?
I am lucky to live near a beach and love walking down to watch the waves.

Five Percent Challenges and their many teams rock!

If it were not for these many wonderful challenges that inspire us to stay active both with mind and body, I would probably be 200 pounds overweight right now. Instead, as of this writing, I am entering my 33rd challenge with a team that rocks, with only 28 pounds away from a healthy BMI -- and only 2.25 lbs away from the infamous ONEDERLAND. I hope to not only get back into Onderland, but stay there this time. I credit Weight Watchers and these spectacular SparkPeople teams in helping me lose 100 lbs -- Something that took me about 5 years to complete. With God's help, your help, and a positive attitude I know it's possible.

I have even greater incentive now, to eat healthy. In February of this year, God answered the prayers of two widows with a love that is modeled after king Solomon. God is such an important part of both of our lives, as is the love and compassion Jesus would have us share with others. On August 27, he proposed at the Mississippi River in Jacobson. I can confess that we knew by Day Five we would likely be husband and wife some day. We'll marry sometime in 2019. Unofficially, we were married in a sacred ceremony at the Renaissance Festival during the wine, romance and chocolate weekend in Shakopee MN. God's favor and blessing were incredible as we publicly made known our covenant with God.

Bring on eight weeks of healthy living challenges that will help inspire us to improve the temple our Creater gave us. Find your inside motivation and build in lots of incentives to reward yourself. We can do this! Don't wait . . . Begin today!

Hi Team: My name is Jo Ann or JOANN25 is my Spark People ID.

My fun things to do are: piano (I play for my church); read; visit with great grandkids as often as possible.

I am Christian Education Director at my church. It is so much fun to plan events for the elementary school students and watch their faces as they join in the different activities.

My favorite exercise is walking. I have had to cut back due to knee flareups but still walk as much as my body will handle.

I love the challenges on SP and on the Fit Bit. It's so uplifting when I finish one of the challenges.

My first Shooting Star challenge was spring of 2018 and followed through on the break. I did not lose my 5% so want to really work to accomplish this. I would like to do this and then go to goal weight by the end of the year.

Looking forward to traveling with the SHOOTING STARS again in the fall.

Hi my name is Cathy, I am Cate195.

I love to walk and garden and play with my grandkids.

I am following the SP guidlines. I track my food each day and make it a point to meet my carb, fat, protein, and fiber goals.I am fortunate that I do not have any dietary restrictions, although I hate goat cheese.

I love walking, but have had some difficulty lately with an arthritis flare up in my knee. I still walk, I use a copper infused brace and I break up my walks into shorter bouts.

Hopefully no personal challenges for this 8 weeks.

I have been doing the 5% Challenges since Spring 2017. I hate to admit it, but I never lost 5% while on the challenge. But I did get to goal last January. So yes these challenges work!

I am a died in the wool New England Patriots fan and have been since way back when they were the laughing stock of the NFL.

Whew! This is a long thread - I have a lot to read!

What do you like to do for fun? Sew, bake, go camping, find ways to "torture" my students, read, argue politics, hang with friends, walk in the wind...

What diet are you following? Eat food. Not too much. Mostly plants.

What is your favorite exercise? Swimming? Hiking? Volleyball? Hockey?

Do you have a personal challenge you are dealing this season? No, I've just drifted up from my goal weight and I don't want to be one of those "gained all the weight back" stories.

If you did a previous 5% Challenge tell us about it.

2 random fun facts about you? Applied to the astronaut corps in 2003 but got cut at the medical (too nearsighted); working on camping all the U.S. National Parks before I die.

Anything else you would like to share? Goldrush apples aren't in season until late October but if you've never tasted one, they're worth a trip to the farm market just for one apple.

What diet are you following? Trying to eat whole foods as much as possible, counting calories, 1200-1500 a day.

What is your favorite exercise? I'd like to say golf but so many say that's not exercise! I enjoy stationary bike.

Do you have a personal challenge you are dealing this season? Night time snacking!

If you did a previous 5% Challenge tell us about it. I have participated in a three previous challenges. To be honest the first one I was lost, didn't know what I was doing, half the time couldn't find my team (!). The second was a little easier I started to understand and could get around a little better. The third was the best ... by the end of the challenge I had dipped into "onederland". I took a break this summer and now am anxious to get started again.

2 random fun facts about you? I have backyard chickens and I like to travel.

Anything else you would like to share? If you need support during this Challenge, reach out to your teammates. They really do want to help. Follow the rules of the Challenge. Makes it easier for our leaders who spend a lot of their time to make our lives healthier.

Have lost track of the number. Lost 54 lbs in the first 4. Though need to lose more, they have helped me to not gain.

2 random fun facts about you? I work on a very pink 38 ft RV called "the Hope Bus." Italian was my first language.

What is your favorite exercise? cycling and swimming

Do you have a personal challenge you are dealing this season? I am planning on attending a cycling festival in November that involves biking 30 to 100 miles a day for 4 days. My challenge is to get as fit as I can by then so I can participate as much as possible.

If you did a previous 5% Challenge tell us about it. This will be my 3rd challenge. The amount of support I have been given has grown each time. I think the more active I am with the group, the greater the support.

What do you like to do for fun? Hanging out with my computer when at home, hanging out with my friends when not.

What diet are you following? None and that's the problem! Been living away from home for most of this year and have gone increasingly with what is easiest. That should change by mid-October. Will probably be counting calories and going back to gluten-free, sugar-free.

What is your favorite exercise? Walking.

Do you have a personal challenge you are dealing this season? Biggest challenge is being away from home and once home I need to either move or find a totally new normal here. Physically, my knee is interfering with walking and exercise but hope it's mended by start date

If you did a previous 5% Challenge tell us about it. This will be my 16th 5% all with the Cloverleafs. I started the Summer of 2010. Have had 2 breaks, 4 years due to health issues and most of this year to really focus on some non-weight issues.

2 random fun facts about you? I find greens (mint and forest green) to be the most relaxing colors and have to be intentional about decorating in other colors so it's not overdone. I had a roommate once who loved blue - everything in every room was blue. Took me years to be able to tolerate blue again, so I try to be balanced and enjoy other colors too.

Anything else you would like to share? Looking forward to re-joining my team and losing what I've gained this year before I have a wardrobe crisis!

If you did a previous 5% Challenge tell us about it. I have been a Rowdy Rebel a year ago or so. I lost about 12 lbs. (didn’t reach goal weight) but didn’t stick with it and 5 lbs came back. I’m eager to be more motivated and make more fwd progress.

2 random fun facts about you? I just celebrated my 40th birthday with 14 of my closest friends and I feel a great rush of creative energy! I live near the beach and would like to start roller skating on the strand to replace my old exercise standby of jogging.

If you did a previous 5% Challenge tell us about it. I have been in four or five Fit Challenges but finally took off this summer. I am also in the BLC Challenge. I enjoy the comraderie and support. I’m inspired by the difficulties some of us face brilliantly.

2 random fun facts about you? I love to take pictures of strange looking insects. I’m a big superhero fan. My son and see all the movies! We also love everything Star Wars and and the new Star Trek arc (as well as older series).

Anything else you would like to share? I hope to make some good friendships and stay motivated to lose weight and gain muscle.

The biggest is Severe anxiety and panic attacks and lately bad headaches that are affecting me exercising, etc. And a few of my cats are having health problems and its expensive and draining me emotionally. We lost 2 cats last year, its been really hard since ive lost Jacob in December.

What is your name or nick name? My name is Arlene. I have no nickname. Someone tried once to give me a nickname of 'R' and I just about bit his head off. Needless to say it did not stick and Arlene is just fine.

What do you like to do for fun? I enjoy reading, walking and traveling.

What diet are you following? Nothing specific. I follow SP calorie range and follow the various nutritional ranges.

What is your favorite exercise? Probably walking. I hate to sweat so I like swimming but have no pool membership so I don't really get to swim much. I do enjoy hand weights and am willing to try just about anything...even if I have to sweat.

Do you have a personal challenge you are dealing this season? I've lost 45 pounds since January and want to lose another 20 by years end. For 2019 my goal is to lose another 40 pounds followed by 20 pounds left in 2020 to be at my goal weight. Ultimately, I want to be healthy and live my life to the fullest.

2 random fun facts about you? I'm getting ready to turn 58 and will be giving my retirement notice very shortly. I love to travel and have a bucket list for places I want to go. This list continually grows. I hope once I am retired I will be able to knock some of the bucket list off.

I've been married 30 years. We celebrated this past May by going to Vegas and renewing our vows at the little white chapel. Unknown to me. my DH flew out our 2 boys to be our witnesses. They were waiting at the chapel. It was a time I will forever cherish especially with or boys being apart of it all.

Anything else you would like to share? I am excited to start this challenge and make new friends and hopefully pick up a few tips along the way.

What do you like to do for fun? I am an avid reader, and also am currently working on writing a historical fiction novel. I'm a published author.

What diet are you following? I eat healthy foods within my calorie range. Lean proteins, beans, lots of veggies, some fruits. Whole foods. I rarely eat sugar or refined carbs.

My favorite color is pink because it's a fun, happy color.

I was diagnosed with MS 11 years ago. Since then, my weight has been like a yo-yo. At my highest weight of 228 pounds, i realized I needed to lose weight because being so heavy is not good for my health. I have days when I struggle with fatigue and pain, but I'm feeling better every day.

If you did a previous 5% Challenge tell us about it. I got all my exercise minutes in and I think I only hit my 5% once and then it came right back on.

2 random fun facts about you? Divorced twice--2 children--3 grands and 1 great grand daughter. All are up in CT. and I am in Florida. I am a Weight Recorder for a local TOPS club so I know I should be doing better with my own weight!

Anything else you would like to share? I have Post Polio and wear a brace on one leg. I was told 15 years ago I would be in a emoticon within a year and I am still up and about and on bad days I use a cane. I have about 70 pounds to lose and that will also help with my leg power. I am seriously thinking about moving closer to family to help with the reoccurring binging when I miss them! My Birthday is July 5th and I will be 70 in 2019---I need to get this done before i hit 70!!!! It seems so much harder as I get older!

I skipped the Summer 5% and still did not get enough done around the house--which was my plan. So I am back with a vengeance--all suggestions will be well received!

Do you have a personal challenge you are dealing this season? Recently retired, so getting back to good habits (sleep, quality exercise) is first. Second is improving golf game.

If you did a previous 5% Challenge tell us about it. The latest summer challenge was my best yet, losing 7 lbs or 3%! I’ve done 6 or 7 challenges prior to this one.

2 random fun facts about you? I do work in disaster recovery projects in NJ. I like vacationing in Disney, mostly for relaxation, food and drink. The overall scheduling, though, I’m not too fond of anymore

What do you like to do for fun? I love to knit, read, take road trips with my husband and my doggie, and work in the gardens in the spring & summer.

What diet are you following? No diet, I try to eat healthy foods, organic when I can, and have eliminated most processed foods.

What is your favorite exercise? I absolutely love Life Barre even though it is the hardest class I take. But I'm also taking a Pilates Reformer class and the time goes by so fast.

Do you have a personal challenge you are dealing this season? Trying to increase my strength while decreasing my body fat which is making it challenging to actually loose weight. My personal trainer tells me I need to eat MORE, but of course more healthy foods high in protein. But I do find that when my weight creeps up a bit my muscle mass also increases, so I guess it's working.

If you did a previous 5% Challenge tell us about it. I have done several 5% challenges and while I have never met my 5% goal, I find it motivating to be accountable to my team mates. I try to meet my exercise limit every day except Friday, my day off.

2 random fun facts about you? I have a new grandson on the way any time now from my wild child daughter who I thought would NEVER settle down and have any children. And my very best friend in the whole world is my little dog Daisy, a Cocker Spaniel/Golden Retriever mix who is my walking buddy and my exercise buddy (she watches while I exercise).

Anything else you would like to share? I am looking forward to another great challenge. I will be the WL for my team this time around and that should be interesting.

What is your name or nick name? Jean

What do you like to do for fun?I like to read, garden (growing irises especially) and play music.

What diet are you following? I am trying to reduce meat, fat, and carbs and increase fruits and veggies.

What is your favorite exercise? Walking is my go-to exercise.

Do you have a personal challenge you are dealing this season? Several of my cats are having serious health issues, which is putting a strain on us both emotionally and financially.

If you did a previous 5% Challenge tell us about it. This is my fourth 5% challenge.

2 random fun facts about you? I grow a couple hundred varieties of iris, and volunteer at Bay Area Girls Rock Camp, teaching guitar and keyboard.

-Hi! I'm Kate. My hubby calls me bug!

What do you like to do for fun?
-I like to be outside, playing with the littles, photography, music

What diet are you following?
-Nothing specific ... just attempting to eat as much whole foods as I can, little/no added sugars and chemicals/preservatives/additives etc.

What is your favorite exercise?
-walking

Do you have a personal challenge you are dealing this season?
-My 2 littles keep me busy ... especially the youngest with some health problems we are dealing with and slowly getting answers.

If you did a previous 5% Challenge tell us about it.
-I have done too many 5% Challenges to count in the past with varied success. This will be my first in quite some time since I think I only did one challenge between my son and daughter.

2 random fun facts about you?
-I love to bake and cook ... always up to try a new recipe!
-I sing insanely loud in the car ... my kids don't seem to mind ... my son even tries to sing along!

Hi all, I am Rachelle, (TCDragon54). The Fall Challenge will be my 8th, and I can say that joining my 1st, the 2017 Winter challenge, was one of the smartest things I could have done. I became a member of the Weight Warrior team, and it was a perfect fit.

What do you like to do for fun?
--I enjoy time with my grandchildren. My DH and I enjoy a trip to our local casino from time to time. I have actually won a few Jackpots! Now that I am retired I have more time for my book club, knitting and other crafts. I also enjoy volunteering at our local elementary school and for other community activities.

What diet are you following?
--For the most part, I do best when I follow a LCHF plan, like Atkins. I use Arbonne products and do a clean eating cleanse from time to time.

What is your favorite exercise?
--I enjoy exercises that keep me moving, like line dancing or Zumba. My go to is walking.

Are you dealing with any personal challenges at this time?
--Yes! I am the executor (by default) for my mothers estate. Unfortunately, my siblings cant agree on anything and conversations have frequently been hostile in nature. Losing my mom was difficult enough, but this just keep opening that wound and I cant get closure. The good news is that weve have finally made some forward progress, so I am hoping to put this one to bed soon.

If you did a previous Challenge tell us about it.
--I have participated in 5% Challenges since Winter 2017. I joined shortly after my mom passed away and after I had seen a loss of almost 40 pounds disappear. Participating in the challenges has kept me on track. I may not have always lost as much weight as I would have liked but being part of the team prevented me from regaining what I did lose. This supportive environment was like a beacon in a storm at a time when I felt like I was drowning.

2 random fun facts about you?
1) I have been married to the boy next door for over 43 years, have 2 children/ 5 grandchildren and have lived for 39 years in the house my DH built across the street and next door to where our parents lived.
2) I love to sing and got a chance to do a spot commercial for a local store, singling their jingle and was privileged to sing in the Blaine House (where our Governor lives while in office) for a few special ceremonies. Currently, I am participating with a local group od women and will singing at our towns upcoming annual celebration.

Anything else you would like to share?
The 5% Community leaders are awesome! They work hard to make this a successful and motivating challenge for all who participate.

What diet are you following? Weight Watchers Freestyle

What is your favorite exercise? Walking

Do you have a personal challenge you are dealing this season? Pre Diabetes

If you did a previous 5% Challenge tell us about it. I've done several 5% challenges and made so many friends. The support and friendship is as important to me as weight loss. I recently became the CL for the Teddy Bears and it's a lot of fun.

2 random fun facts about you? I enjoy playing Bunko with friends monthly, until recently I drove a SMART car and it was a lot of fun

Anything else you would like to share? I have 2 grown sons, 2 grown step daughters and a step son - all are married and between them I have 17 grandchildren. 2 of them are married and I have 2 great grandkids.

What do you like to do for fun? Fun? What is that? I like to walk, shop, garden, cook and read.

What diet are you following? Moderate carb approach. A mixture of diets. I track with Weight Watchers Points or Sparkpeople.

What is your favorite exercise? Walking or running.

Do you have a personal challenge you are dealing this season? My challenge is the season called Fall. Getting though the landmines of Halloween, Thanksgiving is a concern. This year I have a wedding in November that will add to the challenge.

If you did a previous 5% Challenge tell us about it. Loving the challenges. I've been doing them since Summer 2016 (I think).

Hi all

My name is Isabella , but everyone calls me Bella.
I am 71 years old so fun for me is spending time with the grandchildren and great grandson. I enjoy reading and belong to a book club. The ladies are all about 25 years younger than I am so it's really a blast going to the meeting, especially after book discussion and they start to party.
Right now I am on low carbs. I only have the carbs that are in fruit.
I have COPD so my breathing isn't so good and I need to walk with a walker so I can sit and rest every few blocks. I am doing the 11-Minute Chair Cardio Workout on Sparks twice a day , 22 mints . I am hoping to be able to do more as i lose more weight. I have been doing pretty go losing about 2 pounds a week.
Hmmmmmmm 2 random facts about me. I have been married for 48 years and I am in the posses of moving from the apartment I have live in since I was married.. There are 6 flights of stairs to go up and down every time I want to go out.and it's getting to be too much for me. Moving to a new elevator building so I don't become a prisoner in my home.
I have only been a member since July 13, but I have already met some wonderful people. I will surly visit the others.
I am looking forward to getting to know everyone better and making some new friends.

Hi! Heres a little info about me:

What is your name or nick name? Anne Marie, but many folks just call me by my initials, A.M.

What do you like to do for fun? Go on adventures with my dogs. We just got back from a little vacation at the coast, and enjoyed daily, lovely, long walks on the beach.

What diet are you following? Im about to start on a ketogenic diet. I have successfully done keto diet in the past, and its time to get back on it.

What is your favorite exercise? Currently, walking just walking, without crutches or a walker or a cane. Very nice.

Do you have a personal challenge you are dealing this season? I want to exercise (above and beyond dog-walking) at least 5 days per week.

If you did a previous 5% Challenge tell us about it. I did a few 5% Challenges in the past, and really enjoyed the camaraderie and team enthusiasm. I usually get to about 2.5% so this time I will work on bettering that percentage.

2 random fun facts about you? I just got a Kregs tool, and am using it to build some new cabinet doors. Im in my second year of beekeeping, and still loving it!

Anything else you would like to share? I have been recovering from prolonged carbon monoxide poisoning. Im just to the point that I think I can take on a regular exercise routine, again, and that is pretty exciting. Im certain that the 5% Challenge will help me a lot!

What diet are you following? I am not following a diet, I am just trying to eat healthier and exercise more.
