I had a talk with my doctor yesterday. I'm just getting over costochondritis which is latin for "the sensation of a dagger stabbing into your ribs". It kept me out of the pool for weeks. I'm finally back, yesterday was my 2nd swim since the dagger thing. I can feel it but she said that if it bothers me to alternate with some kicking drills.

note: my oncologist and my surgeon both swim which is nice because they know exactly what I need to do in the pool

the POINT to all of this and there is one - is that I told her that when I was hurt I looked for something else to do. Nothing appealed to me other than walking the dog. Pretty much all I want to do is swim. She actually said that was fine. As long as I switch out what strokes I'm doing and throw in some drills and a bit of stretching between sets that it's an all over body workout so she's fine with that. Thrilled really

thought I'd share a bit of self affirming medical advice. ;-)
