I enjoyed swimming as a youngster, but I never swam competitively. For me, it was a challenge to swim a mile. I did the "0 to 1650" program, as it was introduced to me in a swimming class I took at a local college. I don't swim as often as I would like, but today I did a personal best, swimming 1800 yards ( a mile and then some!) in one session.

Get a functional swimsuit that fits well; don't worry about getting one that's super cute. Chlorine will kill it anyway. Also, I have enjoyed lap swimming much more since I started wearing a swim cap too.

Congrats on your new goal of getting in that pool!!!

Hellooo, I used to LOVE swimming when I was younger (and slimmer and a little less self-conscious)! I've debated starting again for years now but have always felt so uncomfortable and awful in a swimsuit that I've totally avoided it.

Well I've had enough of holding myself back so I'm gonna go shopping next week for some new swimming gear and get started. There are women's only swimming sessions on Monday and Thursday nights at my local pool so I figure that'll be a good place to start :)

I'm thinking I won't pick up any challenges or specific plans for the first couple of weeks while I get into the routine and get used to the water again.

Any suggestions on what my first challenge should be when I'm ready? :)
