Hello. I live in Brazil. Recently finished reading the book and will begin the plan next Monday. Did a bit of grocery shopping getting things needed and working on a few recipes this week. I do better planning a week at a time rather than the suggested 3 days at a time. Tooling up - today cooking a pot of beans. Will spend more time today trying to figure it all out. I'm a vegan eater so it's a challenge! Tried keto eating for a couple of months earlier in the year and did not lose inches or weight. Frustrating. The book is great and I do appreciate the explanations on why my body has not cooperated with diet or exercise. Many frustrating years. Hopeful again.

Thanks, Pat and Gary!

It's good to have the online support - there was a bit of a media blitz for Dr. Ludwig here in the Boston area when the book was published earlier this year, but I still don't really know anyone in my real (aka not online :-) world who is following this plan.

Hi Kathleen - My wife and I have been on the eating plan since February. Had some larger losses in the first months, but now am in the slow loss time. Lose a pound every 2 or 3 weeks. We pretty well have the eating part ingrained. Mostly in phase 2. Don't track food, but shoot for moderate servings. Early on, removed the deadly whites, white rice, white flour, white potatoes, and processes sugar from our house. Use a lot of dry beans, fresh veggies, lean meat. We prepare most of our food, so really cut down on the chemical additives, preservatives, etc. Do think we are eating much healthier. And welcome to the group. Gary

Hi and welcome, Kathleen -
I generally follow Phase 2 in eating, but the last couple of weeks I've been off-plan due to various life circumstances, but actually began again this morning to get myself back on track.

I have found my weight gradually going down when I'm on-plan (with some variations), and I think I would lose more if I watched my portion control better. The recipes in the book are so yummy that sometimes I eat more of them than I should.

I also know I FEEL good on the eating plan, which is the biggest thing for me. I have good energy and a positive spirit. My other things (exercise, sleep) are pretty good - so I just have to focus more on the eating.

On the Daily Chat & Check-in thread, there's a member Steelhead - Gary - who's had great success and he shares some lovely menu ideas of things he or his wife have made.

I look forward to getting to know you - and to getting back on plan for renewed success myself as we go into the holidays! Again, welcome!

I am a long time Sparkpeople member, but new to this team. I have been following the Always Hungry plan for almost two months - took the book out of the library, and liked it so much I ended up buying it. For those who are budget-minded, I noticed that the paperback edition is expected in January.

I am mostly focusing on the eating part of the plan, as my exercise habits and "healthy life supports" (or whatever Dr. Ludwig calls them) are mostly in line - no, I don't quite get enough sleep, but improving that has been an ongoing project for years emoticon

I am following Phase 2 of the plan right now - starting this plan has gotten my weight moving down (slowly) after being stuck for a while, so I think there's something to it. I think the science behind it is quite valid, and it seems balanced, rather than extreme.

Looking forward to hearing from others about how you make this plan work!
