Hello! Nice to meet you! I am the_little_lady. My favorite form of exercise is walking, whether around the house cleaning, using a DVD, shopping, etc. After finding your SparkTeam yesterday, I made a decision to make time somewhere between 8:00pm to 10:00pm to specifically walk!

I hope to make good SparkFriends with all of you!

Thanks!

Hi everyone!
My name is Angi, I just turned 44 and I joined this team to be accountable for steps (because beating my daughter at Fitbit challenges wasn't doing it for me).

It is getting colder here in VT, so it will be harder to get my steps in (And I am REALLY good at accepting excuses as fact).

Hi all , been with sparkpeople awhile this is my second rodeo here . I was doing great ran my first half marathon , then I had an accident at work tore up my shoulder. Being idle and still eating like I was training put back on a few lbs. Been trying to get back into the swing of things ,just started new job where I am on my feet all day long and I am starting to slowly loose weight . Trying to run again but need to start of with small steps , and walking is the beginning so c25k will have to wait . Have a great day

I am getting back to adding walking to my exercise routine. At 54 I need to do as much as I can to get to goal!

I am a "retired" homeschooler lol- homeschooled 4 kids. One all the way until college. One until 10th grade and 2 until high school. Ages 18-23 now and they are college and or working etc.. I am learning all aspects of vegan cooking, Take care of the house and after doing 50K and finishing NANOWRIMO- last year I decided to focus on art. I have some art on my SP blog if you want to check it out.
We have a beautiful bike path here and I will be out on it today! And also hope to get my fitness minutes in too. emoticon

Hello All!
My name is Janet and I live in the Charlotte, NC. I have 2 school age boys and I work as a Pharmacy Tech at a major retail pharmacy. With my job and odd hours my day and evening is gone...not your typical 9:00 to 5:00 job that's for sure. Being on my feet all day too and "running around" makes any other walking undesirable (ie going for a walk outside or doing a Leslie Sansone).

Walking and water aerobics are my exercises of choice. I want to WANT to walk again and that's why I'm here. emoticon

See Ya!
Janet

Jocy, yes, I follow 'The Plan'. I had actually lost most of my weight before finding it (I started it in January 2014) but I struggled to maintain my loss. I DID it, but I always was concerned about whether I was eating the foods I should. One plan says eat no meat, another says low carb, and on and on. When I heard about TP and looked into it, two things convinced me to try it - 1. reading that people had been able to get off blood pressure meds by following it and 2. reading that MY BODY would tell me whether a food was good for me or not.

I lost 5 more pounds but more importantly I lowered my blood pressure to the point that I was able to get off all prescription meds! Its not the easiest plan to follow, but the results are worth it to me.

Hi

I am new to your team. I lived in Arizona for a while but live in California now. I enjoy walking and especially like to see the ducks in the creek that I walk to. I have three kids and a husband and spend lots of time dealing with them. I hope to see you all walking.

Hi Marilyn, Are you following the Lyn Genet "Plan"? I followed her plan for 21 weeks and found I was reactive to so many of my favorite foods. It was depressing but enlightening.

Thank you very much Pilson 1! Nice to meet you! It's tough being laid up but it is also exciting knowing we can be restored at the same time. I'm trying hard to keep the brakes on so I don't set myself back but it's not easy. Will be in PT for quite a while but doing better every day. I hope you are doing the same. I'll add you as a friend so we can stay in touch. Don't do too much. slow and steady. :D

Hi everyone! I'm Marilyn - new to this team but not to SparkPeople. I lost 45 pounds between 2008 and 2011 and have been in maintenance since then. Walking is my favorite exercise! I'll be 68 in January and am retired. My hobbies are walking, hiking, traveling, reading.... and doing whatever else feels fulfilling at the time (retirement is GREAT!!) I follow a food plan (since January 2014) called 'The Plan'. Its a form of elimination diet which works very well for me - following it has allowed me to (finally!) get off blood pressure meds!

I look forward to getting to know all of you.

Hi,

My name is Jocy, I'm 59 and slave to 3 furever cats and (currently) 2 that I am fostering for the Humane Society. I enjoy gardening, cooking, reading, crocheting, playing the Sims 3 and planning. I am a hopeless list and flow chart maker.

I used to stop at the gym on the way home from work at least 4 days a week plus take care of the house & garden. Over the past 5 or 6 months I quit doing many of the things I used to enjoy. My lack of exercise got so bad that Oct. 12th I quit wearing my Fitbit. All it was doing was showing me how few steps I was getting. To make a long story short I was going through a depressive state because of a medication. I'm being weaned off of it and after 2 weeks I am feeling more energetic and motivated. Today I went to the gym after work and walked for 25 minutes, then I got my Fitbit out and put it on the charger. I'm going to need it if I'm going to join the November step challenge.

I look forward to getting to know each of you.

Hi Bev,
We share some common hobbies such as cooking, reading, and skiing. I'm 52 and recently tore my ACL so I am also just starting back into walking and exercise. If you ever need encouragement, just message me!

Hi everyone, I discovered Sparkpeople in 2014 and love, love, love this community. There is so much to learn and so many to reach out too. How fortunate we all are to have this.

My name is Bev, I'm 57 and I live in Good ole New England! :) I enjoy too many hobbies to list here, yes, one of those lol! But, to name a few, cooking, sewing, crafting, reading, amazing outings with friends, golfing, downhill skiing, snowmobiling, jet skiing and being at the lake.

Due to hip problems I had to give up my horse training and competitive carriage driving career a few years ago along with most physical activities. Gained 30 lbs from inactivity. I tried a lot of things here on Sparkpeople to get off the pounds last year but in the end it always hurt too much to move.

I am 6 week post op hip replacement and I have a new leaf on life now!! I have been walking anywhere from 6 to 11000 steps a day. I Started getting a little crazy about it and found I needed to back off a bit, got too sore. BUT, I'm here to join you all and walk away the pounds.

One question, do I start posting my steps now or wait for November. Trev, I think you said we just go in and edit every day the original post to record our steps. Do I have that right?

I am new to this team but not sparkpeople. I have tried off and on to be healthier, and it always seems I do better when using spark. I hope this time I can stick with it and work hard to make my life more healthy and as a bonus lose some weight. I also find that walking is my go to exercise and one I enjoy the most.

You decide today whether you will have a good day or a bad day!

New to Spark. I started my efforts to get fit at the beginning of September and then recently tore my ACL. I am in physical therapy for the ACL tear and walking is one of the main exercises that's approved so I thought this would be a great team. I am very motivated and I look forward to cheering on my team mates!

Hello everyone, I have been a spark member since 2010. I have been inactive the past 2 years. I decided to join the team back because I have slowly put on the pounds and am again going through challenges with my hip. I am 48 years old and getting ready for a 2nd hip surgery. I am no longer able to run and am trying to find my way back to some movement. I look forward to becoming a part of the spark team and this team.

HI! My name is Gabi and I have always loved walking/hiking. I am a 58-year-old widow and I live in Rockford Illinois. I grew up in downtown Chicago so I have been a "walker" all of my life - it is one of the fastest ways to get around a big city. I suffer with fibromyalgia and arthritis, so walking is also my best weapon against the pain and stiffness of these syndromes. I am hoping to build-up enough endurance to begin walking for a cause (like the Breast Cancer 3-day walk). emoticon

I am 37 yr old mother of 6. Not new to sparkpeople only to the group. I have acouple of chronic illnesses and am in the process of correcting a rotated pelvis. This October I got a lung infection which is being complicated by my asthma and allergies and my body's inflammatory response. I couldn't excerise at all for the past couple of weeks because of my breathing issues (and of course the quarantine) and am finally cleared to "ease back into things" but was warned I may need to take it easy for the next 4-6 weeks... So I signed up for the walking challenge and got invited here. Look forward to meeting, y'all. :)

I have several health issues and right now am having breathing issues but we do not know the cause. I am doing chair marching to get in extra steps and for exercise minutes.

Good morning all - I am KD from San Antonio. 56 years old, two boys, one of whom just got engaged a few weeks ago. The wedding is not until Nov 2016, but I'm going to work really hard to be in great shape at the wedding. I've been working on my weight since January 2015. I've lost 17 pounds so far. Not fast, but going in the right direction.

Now I need to kick up my game!! I work for a dermatologist and do quilting on the side.

Karen "KD"

Thank you Homebody67 for the invitation to join this team. After my hip replacement and retirement I lost 35# with Spark People. Then I slid back into the comfortable non motivated life . I am again focused to loose the rest of it and do a life style change.
