Greetings!! Sparkpeople is fabulous and effective at keeping me on track and accountable, not to mention the great recipes. I got away from it for the past few years, but am BACK now! I appreciate everyone here and the motivation!

Not new but coming back after being gone for years! I was successful with SP in the past getting down to my lowest weight since having my kids. Then life hit hard and the weight slowly came back on to the point I am now at my heaviest in 10 years emoticon
I'm not so interested in "getting skinny" then just being healthier than I am now. I'm making small lifestyle changes in the hopes that it will equate to actual habit changes.
When I'm not sparking, I am driving my kids around or playing WoW when I have time!

Hello. My name is Karla. I joined SparkPeople because I want to learn to live a healthier life and I was impressed by what I learned when I looked into this web site. I enjoy reading, knitting, playing computer games and cuddling with my husband and my cats. I look forward to see what this new year will bring.

Hello everyone,
I am new to SparkPeople. I have used My Fitness Pal for years but needed something new. I like the social part of this. I lost over 100 lbs two years ago and have kept it off but have been stuck at that point. Something huge that helped me were podcasts. Here are some of my favs.: Half Size Me, Tips of the Scale, Primal Potential, Food Heals and The Life Coach School

Hi Everyone! Definitely not new here, but it's a new year & I gotta do something about all this weight. It's a new opportunity for me to learn some new ways to deal with this excess baggage. Thinking about the Mediterranean diet & using my Garmin to become healthy.

Hello Mermaidlife, This is my day 5 also and it's really hard for me also. I too have been overweight most of my life. I have hit my highest this past year at 220 so I know your feelings. So lets be friends. I don't have very many.

Day 5 of the challenge, like many others...

In my early 30s, struggled with obesity my entire life. My all-time highest was 446 pounds, this past summer. I am lucky enough that I don't have major health issues like diabetes or high blood pressure (yet), but I do have frequent migraines that have left me unemployable.

In 2017, I'm trying to kinda tip-toe into living better. Previously, I've been very gung-ho in the beginning, and that always fades. So I'm being gentler with myself and really trying to learn the process instead of trying to fast-forward to results. I have found that daily blogging is really helping with this, even if it's only a couple quick sentences.

Always looking for friends!

I'm in my 30's, and after a recent health concern, I've decided to get realistic about improving my health. All of my lab work is normal, save my thyroid, which is slightly off. The doctor strongly recommended tha I make changes to get my 70+ excess pounds off and my thyroid will continue to be monitored for now. I've completed round 4 of physical therapy following two car accidents only months apart, which occurred three years ago.

Simply put... it's time.

I am making some big changes in the new year. I have spent most of my life taking care of every one else except myself. I realize I cannot take care of everyone else if I'm not healthy. I want to live to be 100 and be moving and grooving until my last breath. I have 40 years to go so I need to get on with it. Who's with me?

The best is yet to be.

Hi everyone! I did Spark years ago and it was a great jump off point. I'm excited to get onboard. I just turned 40 and I have 3 Boston Terriers, a 10 year old daughter, and a 26 year old husband. My goal is to loose 40lbs this year and gain strength and happiness

Hello All, I will be 55 in January and do not want 2017 to be another unhappy year. I have a loving God, fantastic husband, 2 terrific (grown) children, and the 2 best grandsons on the planet...the one thing I do not have is good self-image. That changes today! Anyone with me?

Hi there Clare.

First, account for what you are eating. Second, exercise accordingly. If you cant exercise accordingly, cut back on what you eat.

HI
I am making the start again...I am 64 years old, live in NZ and have been fat all my life,

I have had successes when younger at losing some weight, but have always struggled with plateau before arriving at the prescri.
These days, I am unable to lose weight with Jenny Craig and Weight Watchers, The secret is in the carbs for me...I need to cut out sugar and white flour products to see if that will do it.

Any help along the way will be appreciated. And I work better with a carrot than the stick... Cheers

Hi my name is Pam. I am 53 and just rejoined spark. I like some others have noticed how big I am getting in photos. My goal is to lose 23 pounds an if I get there maybe 5 or 10 more. I have not had much luck in losing more than a couple of pounds , so I am really going to try this time.

Hello, am 25 years old, no kids, been overweight my whole life. Trying something new by coming here after a health scare last week. emoticon My goal is 170 pounds, which is about 150 pound loss from my starting point. Hello Spark People! 2017 is right around the corner, but I have decided to start my journey right now and get off to a good start! I have a very large amount of weight to lose, but I am doing this not just for the number on the scale, but for my health, sense of well being, and so i can feel what its like to experience a much more happier and energetic life. emoticon

Good morning. I've got my gym bag in the car. Even though I've got some running around after work, I'm determined to get to the gym and do some cardio. More often than not, I find excuses during the day to not go to the gym. I'm getting pretty tired of my excuses. So let me start again with spark, and hopefully I can stay consistent over several weeks.

Hi, I was on spark a long time ago. I decided to give myself a fresh start and I never did the new challenge so, I am here today, starting again. I hope to lose a lot of weight and improve my health. I hope we all do well as days go by. I want to take it slow, I have been heavy for a good part of my life, but as I am getting older it is getting harder and harder for me to walk, with all this weight, I am carrying is killing me. This is not the best time of the year to start, as the holidays are going to be really challenging, so will see, what happens.
Good Luck to all now and during the Holidays! Have a great Day. emoticon emoticon emoticon

Just want to introduce myself...

I'm 53, a born again Christian, and I live in the UK.
My goal weight is 10 st 10 (150 pounds)

I guess I'm around 15 st 5 (215 pounds) but I'll find out for sure in the morning.

Tomorrow I'm starting the Lord's Table Course with a "normal" day and a "half day" on Sunday.

I want to blog about it all. Probably not daily, but a couple of times a week at least.

It'll be just me and the course book, as they don't do online support any more. Unless any of you want to join in?

Hello!

I just joined up today and am getting everything prepped to start my new fitness plan tomorrow.

I am 50 and have been off the exercise/nutrition bandwagon for awhile now. I really feel it physically and mentally, and I am ready to start things heading in the right direction.

Hi Everyone, My name is Teresa. emoticon

When at first you don't succeed - try, try, again. So here I am starting Sparkpeople completely over. Day 1. Going to make sure I go through this New Member Challenge and the Diabetes Weight Loss Challenge. I am 54 years old, married 31 years, 2 adult boys. Currently I don't work so I have lots of TIME to form good lifestyle daily habits that will cause me to have the healthy lifestyle of exercising daily, not overeating, making better eating choices, resulting in a healthy weight of 130 to 140 instead of carrying around an EXTRA 167 pounds every second of every day!

HI, I am new to SP and a long time acquaintance with dieting so this time I have decided to make it a life style change and so far I have been doing pretty good. I have lost 52.5 lbs in the last 12 weeks and still have 100 to go so I can get both knees replaced. Arthritis is not a very nice companion.

Hi there! As for many other people, this is not te first time on SP. I think I need some consistency and motivation to go on on my journey to healthy living.
Right now my main problem is that I feel tired all the time and that I have that extra weight that seems to increase a little by little instead of going away.
I wish to find a balance in which I feel I'm living a healthy life and not straining with dieting and forcing myself to exercise.
