"The real secret of success is enthusiasm..." thanks, Walter P. Chrysler. I believe it. That's what I want in my life--to give my imagination a chance, to live with energy and enthusiasm!
P.S. I looked up enthusiasm, and it says the root words mean God within... interesting...!

Ralph Waldo Emerson said 'Life belongs to the energetic.' But you don't have to be frenetic and hyper--some energy is quiet and steady, like a heartbeat... and that works too! LOL

Kathy: Oh so sorry that you're dealing w/the aftermath of Shingles. It is a horrid thing! My Mom had 2 bouts of it. I am getting the Shingrix vaccine when it's available. In the meantime, hope you feel better.

Thank you for that informationn on PT for neuropathy, as well. Wasn't familiar w/that.

Neuropathy and nephropathy? Two different things, m'dear, though they are related... I have both!
I talked to a neurologist about it, and he referred me to a physical therapist who specializes in nerve damaged patient care... there are exercises that can help. If you can get a doctor to refer you and your insurance will cover it, I can highly recommend doing this for yourself.
Right now, I'm dealing with the aftermath of shingles... the virus attacks the nervous system, and I have a lot of pain in my left leg where there is now additional damage. Going to take a while to heal, according to my doctors. Ugh.
But we can get through a lot more than we think we can, we just need to stay strong and follow through with what we learn.
Having a decent support team is helpful, too... I have my faith, and I have SparkPeople friends. Both are wonderfully helpful!

Well, sending a virtual hug for sure. diabetic neuropathy of the feet is very difficult to deal with. I have heard som success controlling it w/Lyrica. Otherwise, not sure of anything else. But for sure controlling the blood sugar is vital to trying to at least stabilize the neuropathy.

I assume you have seen a diabetic educator to get nutrition help?

Good lck.

Hi everyone. I am new to the team and diabetes, sort of. I was diagnosed with diabetes around 2.5 years ago. I was losing weight and my blood levels were down. Then I started dealing with severe feet pain. Long story short, in a matter of 2 years, I went to 2 feet doctors, 2 physical therapy places a foot surgeon/doc, a vein doctor, and my primary care doctor, of course with no success from pain. I went to my 3rd foot doctor who said that I did everything he would have suggested and wrote a script for a neurology test. I have diabetic nephropathy. I have a prescription, and helps a little. My pain went from a 20 on the scale of 10 to 5- 10. I stopped working out because I was in so much pain and gained weight.

Sooo, how do you deal with your diabetes, nephropathy and pain, if you have it, and such? I'm seeing a nutritionist and my diabetic meds were changed - but I need suggestions, support and a hug, lol.
