I have kidney disease because of the diabetes... I also have had colon cancer in 2010, been in remission since August of that year...
I take a fiber supplement called wheat dextrin, two to three times a day. So far it has kept me from getting the cancer again. It's WAY more important than people think, but with the kidney disease, I can't eat enough vegetables and avoid the foods that hurt my kidneys so...

"The real secret of success is enthusiasm..." thanks, Walter P. Chrysler. I believe it. That's what I want in my life--to give my imagination a chance, to live with energy and enthusiasm!
P.S. I looked up enthusiasm, and it says the root words mean God within... interesting...!

Ralph Waldo Emerson said 'Life belongs to the energetic.' But you don't have to be frenetic and hyper--some energy is quiet and steady, like a heartbeat... and that works too! LOL

Life comes one mome

I try to have Fiber One cereal once or twice in a week, and I add veggies to my egg white omelets, that seems to help balance my carbs & fiber.

I do pretty good on low-carb, too. Working in the fiber while keeping the carbs down though, not so much. It's helping my stomach issues, but my weight is fluctuating drastically over the week. . Thanks for your help.

emoticon KAT1ARN, I'll have to go back on MYFITNESSPAL where I list my foods to see what I get for carbs and fiber to see what I've been eating to give you some examples. I'm also trying to lower my carbs, it seems I do better on that eating plan. emoticon

Its been awhile since I've been involve with any of my SparkTeams. Several years, actually, so I thought I should re-introduce myself. I have 3 daughters and one son, two granddaughters and a grandson. I have had diabetes for about 30 yrs. and I go up and down on the wellness chart. Right now I am trying to focus on striking a balance between a low carb diet and high fiber. It seems if I get the recommended fiber, I'm over on my carbs. If I keep the carbs reined in, I miss my fiber goal. If anyone has any suggestions or know of any go-to dishes that hit the perfect balance, I'd love to hear about. Thanks!
