STRESSEDOUT27,

well, it's not good, but it is not that bad either. In my case type-2 diabetes led me to eating healthy things rather than the junk I was feeding myself.

No more chocolate bars, sugary drinks, potato chips with just about zero nutrition.

But instead, steaks, salads, vegetables... you know the stuff that is supposed to be good for you (and is).

I'm here for you. I just dosed a bit on my reply. But I check in virtually every day.

James

I have just been diagnosed with Type 2 Diabetes. Had no idea before. I'm still shell shocked a bit but know I need support for this life style change. So this morning I'm taking the first step and joining your group. I see the Dr. Monday to start on medication and set goal plans.

So we are both new here and hope the group will welcome our questions. I have no real idea about what diet I should follow or exercise. So I'll need all the help I can get! Please. To me this is very scary.

Thanks

"The real secret of success is enthusiasm..." thanks, Walter P. Chrysler. I believe it. That's what I want in my life--to give my imagination a chance, to live with energy and enthusiasm!
P.S. I looked up enthusiasm, and it says the root words mean God within... interesting...!

Thanks for the kind words.

I had my appointment with my doctor yesterday and she is giving me 6-months to make some lifestyle changes before she does anything... (I get to check-in with her in 3 months including some blood work to check progress.)

So - I'm going to give it my all!! I want to kick 'D' in the FACE!!! lol

I just want to tell you to do as the doctors tell you . every word . just do it . if you get control you will have a much better time in dealing with the . I know at times it will hard .you will want to step out of the balance of control . you can do it all other people have . my own has failed miserably . i find i am good at times and then i slip or get angry with treatment . welcome you can do this .

you're lucky catching it now!... I was never diagnosed as pre-diabetic; the first time my A1C was checked, it was 14+ which is a daily average of around 400, and my fasting blood glucose that day was 700. They didn't know why I wasn't in a coma but I actually felt better than I had in months! Pretty bad...
I've had my A1C as low as 7.1 at one time, but big stresses and little illnesses have plagued me and I'm up to 8.1 right now. I'll get back down though. With this website, and this team, I've learned so much that has been helpful, and don't anticipate I'll ever be at 14 again.

You can learn more from your own efforts than any one will ever teach you, so explore what the team has to offer, listen to your doctor and nutrition specialist and use their advice to adapt your own lifestyle into something that not only helps with the diabetes but with your happiness! Because when you're happy, everything else is better too!

Hi.. I'm back into spark people. I had a Dr's appointment earlier this month and was told I'm diabetic. I have an appointment with my Dr next week, and probably lots of testing for official diagnosis. Needless to say, Ive been through a lot of emotions the last week and a half. I had previous blood work in the pre-diabetes range, but didn't think I was that old or that bad to get Type2 (and here I am).
I've done some research online, and know that I will get a lot of info from my doctor at my next appointment. Until then, I'm eating healthier and starting to exercise. AND now have you guys to help keep me accountable from this point forward.
