two books are sitting at the library. When I get them, I will let you know if my DH is actually looking at them. He did ask for the books.

I have to be diligent about caring for myself. 100 DAYS OF WEIGHT LOSS is a great way for me to keep focused. Day 1 is July 1, 2017. Build habits to produce success. Most of these habits I have at least tried before but did not sustain. First habit: delay eating by using a timer.

There are a lot of good books out there, and a lot of nonsense. I agree you may want to start with a medical professional like a diabetic educator or nutritionist... and for starters with reading you can try Diabetes for Dummies. I enjoyed reading it and it has a lot of good pointers on what to watch for... keep posting and asking questions here, though, there is the perspective of people who actually live it!
Good luck and welcome aboard!

"The real secret of success is enthusiasm..." thanks, Walter P. Chrysler. I believe it. That's what I want in my life--to give my imagination a chance, to live with energy and enthusiasm!
P.S. I looked up enthusiasm, and it says the root words mean God within... interesting...!

Ralph Waldo Emerson said 'Life belongs to the energetic.' But you don't have to be frenetic and hyper--some energy is quiet and steady, like a heartbeat... and that works too! LOL

Life comes one mome

"The Blood Sugar Solution" by Dr. Mark Hyman.

On my FB page, I am following Mark Hyman. I did not realize he had a book out on this topic. I guess I should have known that!

Thank you all!

My daughter was sent for a class. I went with her. I still have that woman's card. I will give her a call. Thanks again, chris

Hi Chris.

I agree, get your husband's doctor to give a referral for a Diabetes Educator and, if possible, a Diabetes Nutritionist. As the cook in the family, you would go as well, and between the two of you, ask all the questions you can think of.

As for books, there are a lot of good ones out there, and some not so good. It is best to find out what your Educator/Nutritionist recommend.

Best wishes to the both of you.....

Linda

Hi Chris. A few years back, someone I cared about very much had diabetes. It was hard to recognize that I had no control over another person's willingness to eat healthy or exercise. That's so frustrating. I hope things move forward for you and your husband in a positive way. My best.

He has asked for a book about diabetes. He had a stroke in 2006 and his reading skills are not what they used to be. I have to manage his foods, test his BS, give him an insulin shot each night, etc. I'd like to buy a book to have here. My name is Chris. It is wonderful that he asked for a book about diabetes. At first he wanted nothing to do with diet restrictions and trying to be healthy. This recently changed. Hurray!

Thank you all, chris
