Geeze this stuff does not play fair and it is scary on top of it. I am glad by Gods grace I have not had any complications with this awful disease. I have seen many folks of color in my community die from this and that is bad. I hope all get better and get back control of there health.

THE LORD IS MY LIGHT AND MY SALVATION; WHOM SHALL I FEAR? THE LORD IS THE STRENGTH OF MY LIFE; OF WHOM SHALL I BE AFRAID.

Oww, I am amazed! I want to lose the same way even though I have a surgery that requires me to lose 50 lbs. But my good news is that as of today I have lost 21 lbs!!!!! I'm on a high right now and can't say enough about the support that I've received from Sparkpeople! It's the best.

Orthotics are amazing and yes, they help as an additional "cushion" for your feet and are made just for you. Glad I could help.

Its my turn56.
Thank you for letting me know I am not alone. The nurses I have seen in the wound/diabetes center have said I need to have orthotics this, will take the pressure off of the ulcer area and other areas on the feet with calluses.New skin is growing.
I liked the idea of you going to the podiatrist every 6 weeks.I will see Dr.podiatrist in 2 weeks. for the first time.Such a learning curve.Thank you.
Also thank you 1crazydog and Byepounds for encouragement.

TUPPERWARE1, I have had a foot ulcer for 6 months and thank God there wasn't a bone infection. I have been working on the healing of it for 6 months and it's almost closed and yes, I have had o stay off of my foot for about 6 weeks. I don't know how in control your blood sugars are but that's something that will help tremendously. I see my podiatrist every 5 to 6 weeks at this point but prior to the actual wound, I still had this same ulcer but it wasn't a wound; that happened when I neglected to go to the podiatrist for the required review and trimming. I have learned quite a lesson. I wish you much luck with the wound and hope that it continues to heal.

There are so many factors that go into answering that. I would advise that is a great question to ask of your wound care practitioner. They have lots of experience in that area. Wishing you much good luck and quick healing!

I would like to know if anyone has had this.Right now I have started going to a wound treatment center twice a week for care.I am on antibiotics.I had blood work done and I do not have Ostemyelitis[bone infection}I am also staying off my feet almost completely to let it heal.Soaking your feet in Epsom salts is the WORST thing a diabetic can do according to the foot nurseAnd wearing flip flops in 100 degree weather..I will be seeing a podiatrist after the wound heals.Foot Dr. does not do wound care.If you had a diabetic foot ulcer how long did it take to heal?
