"The real secret of success is enthusiasm..." thanks, Walter P. Chrysler. I believe it. That's what I want in my life--to give my imagination a chance, to live with energy and enthusiasm!
P.S. I looked up enthusiasm, and it says the root words mean God within... interesting...!

Ralph Waldo Emerson said 'Life belongs to the energetic.' But you don't have to be frenetic and hyper--some energy is quiet and steady, like a heartbeat... and that works too! LOL

Hiya Mizzee,
I'm also struggling with type ll, when i started SP in 2012 it went really well the first 7 months then got harder in 2013 my DD was expecting her first child my first grandchild and life was hectic as she had alot of problems so my BS was not in control (but better than now); then the baby died before he was born with 8 months and since then its been a battle...
I haven't left SP but find it hard to post as often as my BS is no fun always way too high, plus recently had my teeth out due to the diabetes got my teeth & gums but not my feet so i'm OK with that.. but really hard to eat and the nut snacks used to help alot , i really miss eating nuts.. have promised myself that i will get the pestle & mortar out to give it a try.. the thing is i fall asleep more often nowadays and wake up early morning so too late so i'm trying hard to get myself sorted so to set the alarm for my snacks and meds... pheww alot of things to do still.. but i'm determined to get there.. I wish you alot of success and welcome back...
We are gonna win this battle, I do exercise with the pc walking...but not so often as i have alot of voluntary work and a few lessons( creative, painting, mozaics and clay) to help with my therapy, i also want to start swimming but not sure how that will be with the prothese(teeth)...
So i do fast walking with lesley sansone on the pc once or twice a week...I bike from a to b as i live in holland and bicycle riding is the done thing here... not much hills just viaducts...
So i consider that as exercise but does not bring the heartbeat up....
I have an extra med that puts weight on so i dont expect to lose weight at this stage but hopefully it stays the same....
But it would be nice if i could lose the weight, so I'm collecting recipés for very low carb and when my gums are less sore and i get a good fitted prothese im going to start very low carb as i see so many people have done very well with that way of eating.. If i stay very low not sure I"may revert to low glycemic which is also low carb...
A long post but yeah i dont get to post much... hahaha emoticon emoticon
lots of succes for both of us and everyone in this struggle
Tisha

MIZZEELADY,

I find that portion control, where you eat things that cause cravings, but limit their quantity, is like taking the dragon for a walk and hoping not to get burned.

I changed what I ate rather than how much. I've eaten low carb for two years now. Much less craving and much better blood sugar.

Hello to everyone here....I've been out of touch for quite sometime & am trying to come back. I don't know why the absence of myself, but will try my best to stay in touch. OK. I have just lately started to exercise with/at the local senior center. Its a very low impact exercise & so far I"ve been going for about 2 weeks. The class goes for 3 times a week. I feel ready to really start working hard to manage my diabetes & take control of how much & what I eat. I"ve been eating healthier but really need to practice on portion control. This has been a difficult task for me. Also I've a new coach thru my Kaiser Plan who calls me about once a month. This has been a help. So with all of this in mind, I hope to get a lot of support here too. All the best to everyone who has to battle with Type II Diabetes on a daily basis. cheers to all. Mizzeelady
