Hi BUBYGIRL27 - emoticon to the team. emoticon
Are you on a sleep/wake schedule, meaning do you go to bed around the same time every night and wake up around that same time in the morning? Have you tried a sleep journal?
Do you get in some daily exercise even some walking? Is your room too hot or to cold?
Have you tried some type of meditation? Do you have some type of noise on like the tv or radio as you go to sleep? Have you talked to your dr about your sleep problems? Have you ever done a sleep study?

Let us know how you are doing and if something helps you.
All the best to you in getting your sleep!

I know different areas in every state/city can deal with more crime/robberies/drugs then others.
LIke I always say, a person can never be too careful. It's good to be on your toes and proactive.

Oh your welcome for the suggestions. I only drink coffee in the morning as I am getting ready for work and have 1 - 3 cups. Let us know how it works for you to cut back on your daily caffeine.

Yes, you don't want to be taking that Nyquil if you don't have a bad cold/cough. emoticon

I think I'm making it sound worse than it actually is. Yes, there is crime and since I don't know the area too well, I'm a little over paranoid when I hear things on the news. It seems like where we are is fine, but there are surrounding areas that have a lot of crime- most of which seem to be drug related. But still, I get nervous.

Thank you for the suggestions. I will look at melatonin. I really don't want to be addicted to Nyquil. And the caffeine is a good idea, I am a big coffee drinker. I'll stick to one cup in the morning at that's it. It'll be tough, but hopefully it will work.

Hi and welcome to the team. It's great to have you join us!
I was there in Ft. Meyers on vacation back in Aug 2005 and thought it was pretty nice, of course I was only there for a week.

Do you have medical insurance....that way you could see and get established with a new dr down there and go over your sleep issues. Also for an over the counter sleep supplement some members take melatonin as long as they have no allergies etc... There should be a health food type store you could check out and ask some questions about sleep aids.

Also try to stay on a sleep/wake schedule, watch caffeine intake after 3 pm, try a sleep journal, maybe try ear plugs. Check out some of the older posts/threads to for me suggestions and help.

Wishing you all the best with getting your much needed sleep.

I'm in Fort Myers... it's not the greatest area. I always hear about robberies/shootings and stores being held up around here. It seems that north and east of where I am is bad, and here seems to be OK. But I'm not sure yet. I'm originally from Long Island, so this is a big change from there.

Welcome. Is the area you live in fairly safe. I know how that goes when you think you hear noises etc. Is there anyway you can gradually cut the medicine? I am afraid that eventually it won't do you any good. You poor thing. Good luck.

Today is my first day with Spark. I find this to be a great website.. very informative and lots of support. :-)

I can't sleep without taking Nyquil.. I just moved to a new state, and it's the first time I've ever lived away from my parents. I'm so paranoid at night, I'm always thinking I hear things outside or in the apartment, and my mind goes a million miles an hour, so I found the only way to fall, and stay, asleep is by taking this drug every night. I know it's not good to be doing this, and I wish I knew a different way.
