Hi, everyone. Did anyone watch Dr. Oz yesterday when he talked about RLS? He said having some iron (he showed a small piece of steak) with a glass of OJ helps with that problem. Might be worth a try.

"Gratitude unlocks the fullness of life. It turns what we have into enough, and more. It turns denial into acceptance, chaos to order, confusion to clarity. It can turn a meal into a feast, a house into a home, a stranger into a friend. Gratitude makes sense of our past, brings peace for today, and creates a vision for tomorrow."

I get it sometimes for about a week at a time its horrible. I think perhaps what I get is not as bad as your problem. I don't know if this will help you but maybe its worth a try. It is a you-tube video in 2 parts.

I was told that exercising during the day can help.
I hope you get some release somehow.

Hi, Jackie, and welcome to SP and our team. Sorry I personally can't give you any advice with RLS since I've never experienced it but I'm sure there are members who will be helping you from their experiences.

Welcome to the team.
Gosh, I can so identify with the RLS. I get it occaisionally and not sure why. Sometimes I get relief from appying Icy Hot. It seems to help.
best of everything to you.

Hi - I'm Jackie and I'm new. Today is day 2 with SparkPeople. I have severe Restless Leg Syndrome and take medication for it. Doesn't help lately - just have to get up and walk around no matter how tired I am - I'm like a zombie - but no choice.
I used to take Requip but was I found it made me so jumpy that even if I got to sleep any noise jolted me awake and then my legs would act up. So I switched to generic Mirapex - worked great for a year, no jumpiness - but lately not working so well. I am a super light sleeper anyway, so with that and 2 dogs and 2 cats - they are always making some kind of noise, I don't remember the last time I slept through the night - but I continue to hope for it.
I'm hoping eating better and exercising might help alleviate the symptoms.
I've heard RLS could be caused by anemia and hypothyroid, both of which I also have, but I take medications for them (levothyroxin and iron supplements) so I would think my legs would be okay as long as the thyroid and iron are kept normal..
I've tried ignoring my legs but they just begin to ache - so any tricks anyone else has, I would love to hear them. I wish everyone a restful nights sleep.
