Welcome to our SparkFamily!

There have been a number of folks who have lost weight through SparkPeople and avoided the need for weight loss surgery. Some folks go for the surgery too...whatever path one follows, it's always a worthy investment in our health and well being.

Starting with the SparkPeople Nutrition and Activity trackers will do much to help you get your Spark in gear! :-)

Hi everyone,
My name is Lori and I live with my husband and two teenagers in upstate NY. I am 42 and have been a lifelong over eater. Not to say that I have not made multiple attempts at losing and keeping off the excess weight. I most certainly have. But in the end it waivers and fails and the weight slowly but surely comes back on .. with a few extra pounds to boot. I have noticed lately that my breathing is getting more labored and I have made the choice to look into weight loss surgery. I have not chosen to go through with it.. Just look into it... but then i realized something... If i was going to put my body through surgery in an attempt to lose weight i would then have to drastically reduce my eating and increase my exercise anyway. So why not just try eating like i had already had the surgery? So that is what i'm attempting to do. today is day one... I have opted for a very small plate.. ( teacup saucer) which i will use for all my meals, I will be taking vitamins, drinking water and protein shakes to fill in where the food leaves off but I know that i cannot do this all on my own. I NEED help. people who are also going through the same struggle with food and help with motivation. I am hoping to find that here! I do not need to hear discouraging words I need to be boosted up and although i am going to the dr. and will be continuing to exercise and eat right.. a friend in the end is always a welcomed addition to anyone's life. So i hope to hear from any and all... Have a wonderful day!

The best exercise you can get is to bend down and lift someone else up as you climb
