Hi Jeff and welcome!! You can do this..i do my walking inside in the winter...I get Leslie Sansone walking DVDS and you dont need alot of space to do them. I'm up to 6 miles most days of the week and a minimum of 2. I put in 244 miles in February...on a bad leg..if i can do it ANYONE can!!!
We are here for you!!! If you need a virtual walking buddy let me know!!

Hi - my name is Jeff, and I live in upstate NY. I've always been a "big guy"....I'm 6ft4, and usually weigh, plus or minus, about 300 pounds. I used to work in mental health, where size was often a factor in dealing with patients. And I've always felt that I derived part of my identity, from my size.

Weight was never a problem - or at least I never perceived it as a problem......a number of years ago (probably more than 10), I was diagnosed as Type 2 diabetic....and I was maintained by oral medications. I could still eat and drink whatever I wanted - as that was why I had medication. Due to the nature of diabetes, in addition to the oral medications I take, I'm now maintained on 3 IMs a day of insulin.

I've never been one to go to the gym, and with the often severe weather during the winter months, its difficult to go outside and walk, especially when temps remain in the low teens, and there are no sidewalks.....

I' currently at 301 pounds, and would love to get back down to perhaps 250 pounds...once the warmer weather arrives, then will go out walking..and the complex I'm moving to has a rudimentary workout room, and will avail myself of that....

Would be interested in hearing from other members....
