Hi and welcome, NoElleMoney!
(sorry about the delay; notificaiton of your intro post got lost among a LOT of emails; where DO they all come from!?)

Gracious, lots of us do indeed have lots of suggestions! The first step toward change is awareness. Not that you want a certain goal (weight loss), but what you are doing now that can be changed to reach that goal.

TRACK WHAT YOU EAT, WHAT YOU DO:
We have so many ingrained habits that are such a part of our way of doing things that we don't realize the 'sometimes' really means 'almost always' when we consider what we choose to eat or do, so: Do start off by TRACKING food and activity honesty and in detail! Then study what you eat, what you do... to learn about yourself!

SPARKPAGE:
Have you done all the reading and activities listed in the "Getting Started Guide"?
If not, you will find a link to it in the right column of this and most SP pages. Among things to do to get started will be creating a SparkPage. The SparkPage helps people connect with you, leave helpful and supportive comments on that page and also your blog. JOURNALING helps! Your blog can be your journal or you can create one on paper or in your computer.

THIS SITE:
Truly using the tools on this site - not just skimming them, but reading and thinking about what you see here! - can be a fantastic motivator while giving or reminding you of helpful and healthful information. One of te aspects about this site that I love is that it is a wonderful maze of information that each of us can tailor to use in whatever way works for us; we have different goals, different preferences (for exampe, you won't catch ME doing jumping jacks for cardio!).

TEAMS:
Join one or two that address particular goals or hurdles.. or perhaps offer challenges that will be helpful to you. Other people facing similar circumstances of some sort or another can and will inject your efforts with a bit of motivation and direction when and if needed.

Balanced nutrition within your calorie range WILL get you to your current goals. It's not as easy for those of us who aren't 20 years old anymore, but commitment to a positive attitude and focus on healthy lifestyle (instead of 'diet' and 'losing weight') make reaching toward your goal/s a journey.

ENJOY the journey!

Welcome back to our SparkFamily!

Suggestion: get cozy with the SparkPeople nutrition tracker and watch your food choices...the pounds will go once you are more aware of the caloric impact of various foods.

Stick with the SPARK and we'll ALL reach our health and wellness goals TOGETHER! :-)

Noellemoney, congratulations on quitting smoking!
Maybe some of the techniques you used to quit can help you tackle the extra pounds.
Being active and drinking water are two great ways to get healthier.
For most people the most important factor in weight loss is food. Try tracking on SP or keep a hand written journal to get an idea of what you are eating and then you can figure ways to improve.
Best of luck, welcome to SP and welcome to our team!

Hi everyone! this is it for me! i'm sick of being over weight! I quit smoking 5 years ago, while I was also going through menopause....the reward I got for that was an extra 30 lbs!! I want to feel like myself again. Any suggestions?
