Don't be afraid to give your best at what seemingly are small jobs. Every time you conquer one it makes you that much stronger. If you do the little jobs well, the big ones will tend to take care of themselves.

Welcome to SP and the NY team!

LOVE that on your SparkPage you make it clear that your real goal is getting ready for the run, rather than losing the pounds. You're setting a great example for your children with an activity-goal orientation rather than a 'mere' goal of shedding pounds, because healthy lifestyle includes shedding pounds as a by-product of changing habits and so much more.

You might include your whole family in a sort of team projects as you slowly restructuring meals and pantry contents for everyone.... rather than make changes only in your own habits. Consider whether this approach would work or whether your best approach is to ease them into any changes you later decide will benefit them as well as you. Family walks or active games are mutually beneficial, and kids love to feel they are helping a parent prepare for some big event... such as getting ready for the Boilermaker 5K!

You've joined some teams that seem well-suited to your goals. Wonderful!

ENJOY the journey!! I wish you luck as you prepare for that Boilermaker event!!

Hello everyone! I am a married mother of three from Herkimer County and like so many of you, I have had some weight loss success in the past that I have undone to some extent due to slipping back into old habits. I believe my underlying problem is my sedentary lifestyle, and I am really going to focus on being more active this year, with my ultimate goal being to participate in the Boilermaker 5K and at least one obstacle run.
