We have a local SparkTeam called the Binghamton Area Losers:

Some of us got together recently to enjoy some fun fitness via a local contra dance gathering. PLUS right in your neck of the woods on Washington Ave. the Swing Dance Society meets every Tues. night @ 7:30 upstairs above Rexer's Karate Studio for some swing dance fun. It's only $3 for a whole night of smoke-free, alcohol-free fun...just folks who like to get together and dance the night away. Each week they start with a very basic lesson for newbies (& refresher for folks with two left feet like myself...lol).

In the past local SparkPeople members have gotten together for meet 'n greets for such fun as cross country skiing, kayaking, walking, bike riding, etc. Things have been a tad on the slow side lately but I would welcome you to join in and shake things up with some suggestions and requests via message threads.

You are on your way to getting the MOST out of our SparkFamily by posting your message already. Keep sharing your thoughts, questions, trials, tribs and SUCCESSES to get the most from our community. Hey all,

I'm Tess and I recently moved from SC back to NY to be close to my family again after 16 years in the South (born and raised in NY). Yeah... call me crazy but the snow and ice and cold are worth it to watch my nieces and nephews grow up! I am a content manager for a software company and I work from home full time.

So, I live in Endicott and am trying to lose weight and regain strength after being sick for a while. I am looking at a few gyms in the area - American Family/Women's Fitness Center and possibly Curves, to get myself motivated again. Cannot do much around my apartment building but do try and walk around outside each day for a little while.

Dieting is hard when I have no desire to eat, let alone eat healthy. But I am working on this a little at a time. I have a significant amount of weight to lose this year, but am not getting any younger so here goes!

Does anyone know if there are any local weight loss or exercise support / motivational groups forming in the area? How about nutrional counseling?

Thanks and I do look forward to getting to know everyone here soon!
