Hmm... I hope you'll consider creating a SparkPage and UNclicking the check boxes on the edit page that make it available to only friends or to no one at all; doing this allows others to better support you. Since you have struggled with weight all your life, I was first and foremost wondering how long that has been? Approaches are the same whether we are 20 or 80, but abilities and results do alter by stage of life and incidentals like work stress, family obligations etc etc.

Do wipe your mind clean of all previous attempts and nurture your thoughts here on SP. The SP Diet Stages are very solid, containing links to articles that will make you think "oh, for Pete's sake, I KNOW this!" and want to skip through or just click for points. While I still don't know who that Pete is/was (biblical, maybe?), I do know that our most ingrained of bad habits lie right in front of us in doing repeatedly what we absolutely know in our minds is not good. The stage for 'habits' lets us really dig into these areas. So do yourself a favour and pay more attention, not less, when you get into the Pete's-sake mode.

What I love about SP is that it is not a mere 'diet'. The site is all about creating a way of enjoying a healthy lifeSTYLE, trading old bad habits (those nasty ways that let the weight creep back on us) for solid, good ones. Making simple changes one at a time shows results. Because you have struggled a long time, DO consider the slow approach so that you don't overwhelm yourself with expectations. Grin at every hurdle you jump, even NSV (non-scale victory, because small changes lead to success and maintenance of goals. The numbers our doctors see in lab tests are more important than the numbers on the clothing rack sometimes, so following SP's methods and accepting slips as lessons will lead you to not just weight loss but also to good internal changes. And that is just plain fantastic, yes?

Hi - I have struggled with weight all of m life. I am determined to stop yo-yo dieting and commit to changing my lifestyle to a healthier one! I am tired of the emotional roller coaster effect of losing and gaining weight.
