Hi Betsy, I have always been an emotional eater & hate to exercise. I have made a goal of exercising at least 10 minutes every day BEFORE I can use the computer. It doesn't sound like much, but at least I am forcing myself to move. Strangely, I have found I have more energy these past few weeks. Be sure to track food when you can. It really keeps you accountable. Good luck and I hope things improve for you. - Debb

Glad you came here, Betsy: doing something good that i for YOU is so important at this point in your life. I've been 'there' and know that the transiton is hard; having a positive goal - like improving health and losing the pounds - can help. Exercise is a great mood-lifter. The hardest part is starting; once you start moving, you just keep feeling better. Assemble some 'happy' music - download from the computer or just dig out music that you have on hand and play uplifting tunes while danceing and stretching right in your living room. Keep a journal of good thoughts, good words. Focus on what you like to help you avoid sinking into those feelings of self-doubt.

By becoming more active and eating in a healthy, balanced way you will feel better in many ways. Does that solve all problems? Nope. But knowing that one is doing the best she can under the circumstances does make everything feel a little more... balanced.

Good things are on the other side. Believe it!

I've had a rough year so far with my husband having an affair, asking for a divorce, and my daughter's mental health problems. I have gained a lot of weight and have zero motivation to exercise or eat better. My self esteem is in the toilet, and it's time for me to stop feeling sorry for myself, stop using food for emotional comfort, get off my ass and start working out.
