Wherever one does it, trackin' the snackin' is THE best way to kiss the pounds goodbye.

Daily cardio is my goal...don't always succeed but generally at least 5-6 days a week of 60 mins. or more cardio. I aim for 3 x week upper body strength training.

Re: Team challenge...depends on how your particular Team challenge is set up as to whether it automatically updates the Team numbers. Check your "Other Goals" page at this url:

www.sparkpeople.com/myspark/other_go
al

and look under the particular SparkTeam where your challenge is and it will tell you if it is automatically updated or whether you have to check off boxes to indicate you've completed the challenge.

Thanks, Don. I do that already (though I confess, I don't do that here on SP. I use a different software that I find less cumbersome than most web-based journals). I was thinking, though, that I would join the 30 mins of cardio 4x per week challenge. I've never joined a team challenge, so I'm not sure how it works. Do I just log in and enter my cardio exercise and it automatically updates the team numbers? Or is there something else I have to do.

I think the team challenges will help me with the accountability part of my plan! :)

Thanks everyone.

I thought this time around, I might try something different and take part in some of the team challenges. Any suggestions for a good one to start with?

Hello Leonore and welcome back. You've already done this once so you know how to do it. Now it's motivation to do it again. Whatever we can do to help kick-start you into a healthy routine, let us know.

Hello, I'm Leonore. I'm not really new to SparkPeople or even this team, but I haven't been active on the site for several years. I first joined when I was in the middle of a long weight loss journey. I lost 70 pounds and have kept off most of it for 3 years. Over the course of the past year or so, however, some of the weight has crept back up. I know what happened. First, I started slacking off of my exercise routine. Then after a while, I couldn't deny that I'd gained 10 pounds. I tried to get back into a routine and never did. Then my eating habits started to revert and about a month ago, I realized that this all resulted in another 10-lb weight gain. I tried a few times to kick-start the weight loss, but I know I was half-assing it and so of course it didn't work.

I know I'm going to need help with accountability, motivation, and encouragement, which is what brought me back to my Spark Teams after several years. I'm getting back into an exercise routine (doing a modified round of P90X) and starting to track my food more closely, and am really ready to get serious again.
