My name is Candace. I just received my SPAT and took it for a test drive (well, walk). Honestly, my pedometer always tracked low (lower than this too) and so I just put the difference in as a separate workout. I also calibrated it. My pedometer kept falling off after a while and I was tired of finding it: on the floor, in the yard, in the dog's mouth, nearly losing it in the toilet. Plus it was so bulky. I am excited to see how it tracks and to actually have mileage track with my steps. It would be cool if we could calibrate it to our stride (if we already can - please help me learn how). Best wishes!!!

Happy Friday Sparkers!!

My tracker arrived about an hour ago and it's synced and ready to go... since I usually don't wear shoes around the house I guess I'm going to have to change that since it says it's optimal to wear on your shoe.

I'm also participating in BLC23 and hope this will just enhance the experience.

I live in rural Northern California and enjoy watching the wild turkeys and deer wonder by and I think I've finally devised a surround for my garden to keep them out.

Happy Sparking!!! AND have a wonderful weekend.

Hello. I'm Donna. I just got my tracker yesterday and got it synced this morning. I'm at work now but anxious to get home and upload my activity.

I live in the small town of Spring Mills, PA., about 20 miles east of Penn State University, right in the center of the state. I live on 4 acres with my hubby of 24 years. Between us we have 5 children and 8 grandchildren

HI Everyone!,
I just started a very busy new job and need to get back on track with my fitness goals to make my life more balanced. I have looked a couple of different trackers over the last 4 years and never decided to buy one. With this offer, who could refuse? JUST got the bugs worked out and got it synced this AM. Looking forward to my first day with my Spark!

Hello, I'm Jane and my sister also bought me my tracker for taking care of all her animals off and on this summer while she was gone. I have been a member of Spark People since Jan. 2008 and enjoy exercise and any excuse to walk or hike. I feel I will still wear my Nike GPS watch while walking for the instant update on mileage but really like the feed back with the tracker at the end of the day. I also like the way it updates our fitness trackers.

If I share my strength with just one Spark Friend I can help her gain more confidence, become more fit and live a healthy life.

Hi Everybody, I'm Karen. I live in Colorado. I just got my tracker in the mail today, got it all set up and ready to go. Did adjust the number of steps to goal, as I've been real sedentary for a long time. Knitting is not an exercise intensive hobby! Today I am making a new commitment to myself to increase my exercise and this nifty little gizmo will keep me accountable. emoticon emoticon

Hello teammates!!!
I'm Dee, I live in sunny Southern California.
I've been on a workout hiatus (doctors' orders) and out of my antsy-ness to get those fitness minutes in I ordered the tracker.
Not sure how fast my shipping was since I tend to forget to check my mailbox for days sometimes emoticon SO glad I checked it today (Saturday).
I've never owned any gizmos and when I saw the e-mail for this one I was going to just delete it, but since it's SP I read it and milled it over for DAYS. Then, I kept seeing ONEKIDSMOM getting her awards on the Friends Feed and it did me in to order it.
I did a quick 10 minute walk around my apartment just to test it out and it's indeed pretty accurate. It should keep me focused on walking until I can return to my regular workouts.
Feel free to add me as a friend!

Dee, from sunny Southern California [Pacific Time Zone]

Hi,
I'm Carol and I live in the beautiful mountains of western NC. I've been on Spark for over 4 years now. I ordered the tracker because I'm tired of always having to attach my pedometer to me. The tracker is so much more convenient! Plus, I love the idea of my data automatically being downloaded. I just got my tracker yesterday and have had some problems getting synced, but like everything else at SP, there's plenty of help on-line so I'm excited to see how I can "up" my motivation with it!

I had not held off buying the Fitbit, Molly, and still bought the Spark tracker. I like the sleep tracking feature of the fitbit flex, but LOVE the Spark tracker for how well integrated it is with the site!

Hello! I'm Molly -- I received my tracker yesterday as well (although I didn't expect it for another couple of days; thanks for the fast shipping, SP!) so today is my first "real" experience with it. I'm so glad I held off buying a FitBit -- I think this one will be better!

And so far it's already doing what I wanted it to do -- help motivate me!

Hi I'm Maggie from Florida and I received my tracker last night. I am really excited about using it and my husband is impressed so I promised him I would get him one for Christmas for his bicycling.

It is nice that I wont have to figure out how fast I was walking and how long because this device will do it for me. Logging in my fitness always seemed tedious for me and often I wouldn't bother logging it in at all especially if I thought I didn't do too much.

Hi,

I am Sandy, live in Maine, am 61 years young and trying to keep it that way!

I received my Spark Activity Tracker today, and I am excited to get started using it. I have been eying the FitBit products for a year now, but because I already have fancy Omron pedometer with online sync, I have hesitated to spend any more money on products which may end up collecting dust after the newness wears off!
emoticon

When I received the offer for the Spark Activity Tracker, read about it, and found that it was half the price of a FitBit, I decided to give it a try. Besides, emoticon

I love that this is a small device. I am hoping for the best!
Now to get moving . . . . always my biggest challenge!

All the best to you all.

Sandy

hi guys! my name is Rhonda! also an avid fitbit user. I started using it , not so much because i am good at exercising, but because i am bad at it. i am constantly on line and at my desk and need to remind myself to get up and move... and although i have been a member of spark since 2005 or so, i ve started over a few times, because my thyroid just screws me up, and still gain and lose weight. for me i found exercise my key to good health. so i swim, and i swim , and i swim, and i walk .. in the water.. :) I am looking forward to seeing how the spark works in the pool. /yay

I started jogging 28 years ago and have kept it up. Ruined my knee meniscus by twisting in a grotesque position (not exercising- just careless). Have done several mini marathons and have loved them. 2008 was my last one and 30 lbs ago. emoticon

Kept my weight off many years. I am down to walking.

I have had pedometers, several different fitbits, Striiv, WW Watcher Activity monitor, which is really good also.

Love the Polar HRM.... But I am finding cutting back food consumption is the key.

Hello team! I'm Carol from Pensacola, FL. I've been on SP since 2007 and lost 60 pounds in 2008. SP has helped me KEEP it off for 5 years!
emoticon
I feel like I have my healthy lifestyle down pat, but I've toyed with the idea of getting a fitbit, just for some new motivation. I'm glad now that I waited. I ordered the SP tracker on Wednesday...the minute I got the announcement...and it arrived on Friday. FAST!
emoticon
I've set it up and just played around with it over the weekend. Set up was easy peasy...and it syncs easily, too. Starting tomorrow...it gets a real test on how it records workouts. I will still use my HRM for accurate calorie counts.
emoticon
I enjoyed reading the posts here and found them very informative. I can't wait for the phone app to be released!

I'm doing a comparison study, too, Christine, with the Fitbit Flex, in my case.

I'm really going to enjoy seeing the differences both you and I come up with... one thing I've already noticed about the Spark Activity tracker is that if you enter an activity manually into the Fitness page that occurred offline from your Spark gadget? You still get credit for it! I entered my 41 minute swim, where obviously I'm NOT wearing the tracker? And it integrates it into the tracker, so that the activity tracker page shows it, and the lights light up giving me credit! Woo-hoo. Motivating? You bet!

Hello everyone I'm Christine in California,

I set up a new "fresh" spark account to keep the two trackers I have separate. Got my Spark tracker yesterday (Saturday) afternoon waited until this morning (Sunday) to set it up and get started.

I have a fitbit One and what I have not liked is that since they changed the dashboard they only show you Very Active minutes. But I go for a walk on weekday mornings with a coworker, he gets all 20 of our morning walk as Active minutes I get 5! That is not very motivating! So when I got the offer to try the Spark tracker I decided to compare them.

Went for about a 20 min walk this morning with Hubby. We both have fitbit One and I was also wearing my new Spark tracker. Hubby got 11 active minutes from his One, My One said it was 5 active min, but my Spark tracker logged it as 22 minutes of workout! WOOHOO!! Now that is motivating! Seeing my walk count as exactly what it should!

Step count between the two is pretty close (I had an extra 50 on the One before we started).
Can't wait to see how the rest o the week goes! Looking forward to comparing a weeks worth of workouts.

Just got my Spark Saturday. I worked out hard yesterday. Happy with how easy the tracker hooked up and set up with SparkPeople. I've been using an Omron but its been acting up lately so I needed something that was accurate and dependable. I need a tracker. It absolutely helps keep me on track. Keeping track, setting and reaching goals is what keeps me going. I've just passed the half way point in my journey to my ultimate goal weight. This one will track me on my nice Schwinn Airdyne. This will actually get me to use it now. I also jog just about every day on my mini trampoline.

Was surprised to see I had a new team! Hope everyone is enjoying their new Spark.

I has such a time with the Bodymedia Advantage because it's bigger than the Core, which I have now. I had to go weeks without wearing it sometimes, to get over the skin problems it caused. But the Core is a third smaller and maybe the materials are different because it doesn't cause nearly the problems my older unit caused.

Still, that is one reason I'd be glad to not use the Bodymedia anymore. My skin is so sensitive and when I wear the readout device as a watch, my wrist would get blistered too!

I just now disconnected my Bodymedia since I don't want my stats recording my workouts twice but I'll compare the two each day. It's going to be nice to have my bike workouts be recorded by the Tracker since they wouldn't record at all with the Bodymedia (unless I put the device on my ankle).

Marilyn, I ended up having to drop my BodyMedia due to skin breaking out. I tried all kinds of things... switching arms, sometimes wearing it on an ankle, etc. I loved some of its features, but ended up wearing it limited times because of the reaction.

I've been VERY happy with the fitbit flex, which has the sleep analysis feature. And my Spark activity tracker has been on for a full day now. So far, I'm impressed with how it integrates with SparkPeople.com. I was pleased that it identified my elliptical warm up and indoor track walking at the gym... it called my cycling "unspecified workout" and let me pick.

This morning I unlinked my fitbit, but I still am wearing it. Going to do a comparison of the two trackers.

Just received my Tracker today and it's set up and going now. I've been using Bodymedia for well over 2 years, maybe getting onto three and I love it except that it's always caused an allergic reaction where it touches my skin. I have over a year left on my subscription with Bodymedia so will be wearing both trackers until the subscription runs out. I'm going to enjoy doing that though since that time will allow me to compare the two trackers while I work on breaking my Bodymedia addiction. emoticon

I'm Barb and I "bit" for the Spark tracker... even though I'd had my fitbit flex less than two weeks! I had to disconnect my fitbit this morning because I don't want to double track... but I'm keeping it for the sleep tracking, which is valuable in its own right.

I'm liking the total integration with SparkPeople.com, and that the device is powered by a long-life battery rather than having to plug and recharge.

Experiment of one continues... Spark on, fellow enthusiasts.

Hi!! I am Jae & a dedicated Fitbit user!!!!I first bought an Ultra & LOVED it, then when the flex wristlet came out, I ordered it!! Don't like it so went back to my Ultra!! Then plastic began breaking off the Fitbit & wound up with a "One" at half price & 0 shipping cost!! I still like my Ultra better.....I think it is more accurate!! But I decided to give Spark a try!!!! If I could buy a new Fitbit Ultra, I would!!!! Got my Spark quickly & have not really used it yet!!!! The one thing I don't like is that the number of steps I have taken is not displayed where I can see it!!!! Unless it is more accurate or much easier to use, I will continue to be a loyal Fitbit user!!!!

Hi! I'm Lauren. I ordered the Tracker yesterday and it arrived today! How's that for fast service? (It seems SP has a fulfillment center in my state. Who knew?)

I haven't had a chance to do much more than set it up and play around with it a little. By the time I got it set up, it was dark outside. I've got the weekend to play, take some 10 minute walks and see what it reports.

It was fortunate I clicked to look at my SparkTeams, because I had no idea I had been placed in this team. (It was also fortunate I received the offer for this device when I did, as I had just lost the pedometer I had been using for the past 2 years.)

I'm looking forward to seeing what this thing can do!

I'm Patty and I live in metropolitan Detroit. I got mine today. I'm having trouble getting it to update but I'm getting there.

How exciting to be using the Spark Activity Tracker! I've been an avid FitBit fan for a year now but am enjoying my new Spark Activity Tracker. My goal is to daily walk/jog 10,000 steps a day. Any additional steps are a bonus! I have osteopenia, so weight bearing exercise is essential to my good bone health. A tool like my Spark Activity Tracker is MOTIVATION for me! Something that gives me feedback about my progress keeps me moving!

Thanks, SparkPeople, for keeping this the Program to be a part of!! emoticon
