Welcome Bea! So sorry about the second hand smoke. I smoked for 20 yrs. and have quit for 25 and I sure realize how dumb I was. Good luck with the cals. I am just under 5' and can only lose with about 1200 cals a day.

The amount of calories you'll need a day will depend on your height, weight, and activity level. Are you using the nutrition tracker and the activity tracker? If you track your food and your activity, SparkPeople will give you a range of the calories that you should be eating. It's going to be higher than what you've listed that you've eaten the past couple of days. I'm going to guess 1200-1400 calories.

Wishing you much success with your granddaughter and with your weight loss journey. You've got your hands full, but you'll stay young keeping up with that sweet little one!

Been on sparks awhile back ,

but took leave as i am back in school with my only grandchild.

She started kindergarten this year and boy I am hoping I pass it is not what fokes think!

I go daily and help at lunch ,have not missed a day that she went to school all year.

I also help in class all day Wednesday's . I pick her up after school and keep her often till 7. This

means homework and supper and or bath.

So, I can not be on much even if i wanted to be.

I am often sick with cronic broncitious .

Second hand smoke all my life has cought me altho i never smoked myself ,

I lived in the smokers generation tho being a baby boomer . I am almost 64.

Now my body has decided to gain weight after all my life being really skinny.

So, i am counting calories started only two days ago plan to keep at it.

Hope to help others and gain insight here too.

Give a holler if you get time.

I am 5 foot 2 and about 140 lbs. I have an ostomy so my weight all goes to my tummy bad

spot for it so i must lose.

Does anyone know how many calories i need a day to lose?


I had 716 yesterday and 831 today Coughing stops one from eating.

My new plan is no sugar and only chicken and not much of that. Fruit and vegetables are all I

bought at the store and sugarless yogart and raisin bran cereal .
