Hi everyone, my name is Pam. I am going to be 60 years old this coming Friday. I have managed to lose some weight this past year and I have been a member of Sparkpeople since March 13th. I still have around 85-95 lbs to lose and I just don't want to get stalled. I have made some good changes but I know I need to step it up and do better. I have just finished the 4 week Official Sleep Better Challenge and I really felt like these challenges offer an opportunity learn a lot of new things and really stay focused.

Hi All, my name is Lisa and I believe I can't lose weight because I don't eat enough food during a typical day. I also need to "beef" up the fruits and veggies! I look forward to suggestions and support from this group!

Hi! In a couple of weeks I will celebrate 1 year on SparkPeople (this go-around, anyway!) I have lost a little over 30 pounds in that year. Lots of ups and downs, but feeling good about how far I've come. Still have about 20 pounds to go. I am pretty consistent with exercise, but tracking what I eat, and consistently making good choices seems to be my pitfalls. This challenge seems to be right up my alley!

Looking forward to the accountability, and hopefully making some new Spark friends along the way!

My name is Ashley! I'm 21 years old and to say I'm a busy college student would be a bit of an understatement. I've got 3 jobs this summer and I've also just started selling Mary Kay. Between that and taking summer classes I've been pretty busy. I'm about to enter my senior year of college and I will be doing my student teaching in the Spring! I'm so excited to finally be done, but at the same time a bit nervous to head out into the big kid world. Haha. I've been a member of SparkPeople for awhile, this is actually my second account. I've known what to do...what to eat and how to work out...for a long time. I've just been lazy and haven't applied my knowledge and taken action against my body. So now I'm left with about 90 lbs to drop...but I'm confident that I can do so. I've only lost 11lbs so far, but it's 11 that I will never see again. I've recently joined Jazzercise (SO much fun) and when I don't attend those classes I go to my campus' rec center which is free to students!

I've been around SP for a long time, off and on. This time I started at the beginning of February and I am determined that this will be my winning time, because I am going for a permanent life style change not a number on the scale. With that said, I have lost 16 pounds during this time and wish to lose another 9. It is not coming off very quickly, I have stalled at 144 for about 4 weeks now. At first I was upset, but now I feel like it is giving my body the chance to find a new normal. I joined this team because I fell like I need to work on eating a little more while continuing to move forward.

Hi, I am a 52 year old single mother of two great teenagers. I have struggled with weight since about age 13. I have never really stuck with a diet very long, i have only lost a significant amount of weight once, after my son was born and I had gall bladder surgery with complications. I believe I am now ready to do something about my physical well-being. I really want to enjoy the last part of my life better than I did the first half. I am excited to be a part of this team. emoticon

The answer for me was to find an activity that I really enjoyed; in my case yard work and gardening. I also have arthritis and if it's available a great form of activity for that is water aerobics. The water makes it lower impact so not so painful. Don't give up on yourself, you can do it. I was 63 when I started this journey and I am so glad I kept on and have regained health in the process

Hello, my name is Deb and I am trying to kick start my weight loss. I have done well in the past but seemed to have lost my groove, or whatever it was that kept me on track in the past.
Not only have I lost my groove, I have gained weight. I am 5 pounds shy of my start weight and very discouraged.

I am 61, and in search of a pain free life. Being over-weight has make my arthritis more painful, which makes it harder to get excited about exercising.

Hopefully this will work!

I'm a 19 year old college student looking to get healthy! I have never been a healthy eater or a particularly athletic person and I have decided to make a serious life change.
I joined sparkpeople to gain back the confidence I used to have, I am already seeing changes in the way I look and feel and I'm super excited about it.

Feel free to add me as a sparkfriend, it would be nice to get motivation and support from people going through the same journey as me!

Good luck!

Hi! I'm in my 60's and have met my original weight loss goal. I have decided to go for another 10 pounds as that will put me in the middle of my healthy weight range and I'll also look a little better I hope.

Hi. I'm Marci. 27 years old with an 18 month old daughter. I have been overweight for most of my life. Been with SP for about a month, I lost 6 lbs in the first weeks, gained it back, lost 4 lbs, gained it back. I wasn't using the community tools. Last night I was fishing through Spark Pages of people who have had great success on the program. I noticed that most of them kept a daily blog and had lots of support from community members. I have not talked with anyone else using SP ya, so I figured this is as good a place to start as any. I get bored very easily with the tracking and food prep and slip back into my old eating habits. Every other week is an off week for me. I just get busy with work, school, and baby, and I don't have time to think about myself. I have about 100 pounds to lose, so hopefully this will do the trick! Feel free to message me or visit my Spark Page!

I am stuck in my inability to lose weight. I want to lose 60lbs, have been using sparkpeople on and off for a few years, more off than on. My knees ache, I'm out of shape and frustrated, nothing much happens fast enough to suit me when it comes to weight loss, so I give up instead of being patient and trusting the process. This is my chance for a renewed commitment to take care of myself by making healthy choices in food and exercise.

Hello! I am 26, from NY and looking to lose overall, about 60 lbs. My goals are pretty loose though, because i am not as interested in what the scale says as i am in how i look and feel. i am working my way through school right now but will hopefully be done within a year and then maybe i can finally move out of my parents house and have a kitchen of my own where i can cook and buy foods that wont tempt me into eating junk all the time!

Hi, I,m Lorna, I,ve been following Sparkpeople for about 18 mths now. I,ve had time,s when I,ve followed other diet plans (To no avail) so decided to be more consistant with my calorie counting. I,ve also started walking and as it,s already 32 deg inside the house and considerably warmer outside (I live in Greece), I,ve been doing it inside with the air-con on!!! I just want to maintain a healthier life style,I,ve cut down my alcohol intake (no mean feat)! My neighbour (Pavlos) gave me a huge bag of veg yesterday so I,m off to a great start for my extra veg today. emoticon

Hi, I'm Emily. Tomorrow is my 2 year SparkVersary! I have radically changed my shopping, cooking, and eating habits in these 2 years, but I became complacent in my weight loss. In an effort to gain some momentum and motivation, I re-committed myself to SP principles. I want to do is reward myself for all that I have, and will, accomplish. One way I am doing this is by becoming more active on the site. Another way is to join challenges and earn trophies for my successes. By joining this challenge, I hope to cement the things I've learned and hopefully tweak my diet for my continued weight loss. I also want that trophy to add to my vision/accomplishment board!

Hello...my name is Dayna and Miss Malia is my spoiled little puppy that I love very much. I have been exercising a lot more since getting her for Easter as she is very active and loves to play. I have been struggling to eat meals consistently and know that I do not get enough calories daily because of it so my main goal with SP is to track for consistency and to eat healthier and not binge because I missed a meal and am starving. My weight loss goal is 35 lbs. down :)

I've rejoined SP. I've had some success in the past with it, but never got down to goal weight. I'm hoping by Sparking, eating clean, and going to WW meetings, I can make this work!

I am not new to Sparkpeople but have not used it to the fullest. I did terrific when I first joined years ago and due to life, injury and lack of motivation, I slid back to where I started from. I'm very depressed that I am back at square one again, heaviest I've ever been in my life! But I am committed to making small changes and know they will build upon each other to progress and feeling better about myself. I have a fitbit that tracks my steps and I love that it uploads to Sparkpeople.

Hey all,

New to SP but I have been using the spark recipe app for about a year now. I figured I'd step it up a bit and join the community in hopes it will give me a support and information system. I joined this challenge because I figure as far as steps go, learning to eat better is high on that list. I'm 25, a nanny, and kinda sick of the yo-yo dieting. Take care

New to SP but am loving this site. I just hit my 46 birthday and took a long look at my life and realized I need to change some things. Have never been afraid of working out and dieting. But a couple months ago tried and misserably failed. Went to the gym for a month straight everyday watched what I ate and with no results very discouraging. Now I realized from talking to people and the gym and by joining SP. I was in starvation mode. I did eat enough. And when I joined SP and track my food I have a hard time reaching the calorie count. Now these last couple days I finally reached them and the food choices I am making are much better and I find myself making myself eat during the day more.It is hard to break the habit of skipping meals and forgetting to eat. But I am determined with the encouragement from my family Especially my husband.

Hey everyone! I've used SP before but I fell off the wagon when I got engaged. We've been married for six months now and it is time to lose the weight and get in shape. I would love to find SP buddy!

Hi my name is Mandy! I am on my 3rd week using Sparkpeople. I have lost about 10lbs so far and I am feeling great. My I have about 70 more pounds to lose and I know I can do it. I am excited to be participating in a challenge and hope that it motivates even more than what I am already. Sparkpeople is such a great tool and I am so glad I have found it.

Mandy
