Hello Everyone: I'm 69 living in NC. I have reached my weight goal and now I'm learning how to be more active and be sure to eat what my body really needs. Hey all..... I'm Susan from the Midwest....50 years old...... Hi everyone! I've been a member for 3 weeks and at last took the courage to post. Hi everyone! I'm sorry it's taken me so long to introduce myself to the group. My name is Debbie. I'm 57 and I live in south central Texas. I have 4 grown kids and 2 grand youngins. My first week on SP was a nightmare. I'm dealing with all sorts of outside stressors that are beyond my control. I went to the doctor yesterday to get a clean bill of health before I really get going wholeheartedly. I have been referred to a cardiologist like I just knew would happen. It's time for me to finally start taking care of myself ... I'm doing this for me.

I'm 26.... I have 44lbs to lose (urgh!)... I'm from England, have three children, three cats, one husband (who I'm in a weight loss competition with - he has 77lbs to lose...!) and I have Ehlers Danlos Syndrome and various other health complaints which means I won't really be able to join in with the exercise.... so this is pretty much all about food for me. Hello everyone! I am really excited to take this journey to a healthier and more energized me. After 2 surgeries in 2012 I decided to finally get serious about my health and my fitness goals. Over the last 10 years the pounds slowly added on- It started out as the "freshman 15lbs" everyone supposedly gains in their first years of college then a high stress adult life- I focused on everyone else goals and needs and forgot about caring for myself. So this is more than losing a few pounds for me- its a journey of self love, taking control of my life and happiness again and truly learning to live life- healthy and happy!!!
Also my husband and I are ready to start planning for a family!! Yay! Lol
The steps Im taking now will also help us be healthy and fit parents in the near distant future!

Hi everyone, my names Sandra. When I was a teen I lost 25kg to bring me down to a slim 58 kg. Ever since then I've been putting it back on. Last year I've had two injuries to cope with and my weight has reached a record high for the last 10 years. I want to have kids, but am scared I'll put on my weight in doing that, so I want to get back down to my slim 60 kg and maintain this weight for at least 6 months first. I'm current 74 kg. I have been following the spark diet strictly for the last week and am not used to eating so healthy. Am looking forward to continuing on this track and creating a healthy lifestyle and family(I have a hubby I need to convert to healthy food) which I can be proud to bring a child into.

Hi Laurie, I know how it is. I was at the doctor office a couple of weeks ago and was given the evil eye. I did the bug eyed thing when I saw my weight on the scale. That prompted me to get online and look for an encouraging community. I too would like the positive message from the doc when I go back again in the future. Good Call!

I am a mother of two, a wife to an awesome husband who is currently deployed, and a 3rd grade teacher!! My husband and I had a Skype discussion how we both needed to lose weight and become more active . . . he can lose weight like a champ. I, on the other hand, need extra motivation and some accountability. I tried another on-line weight loss program and became extremely frustrated with trying to use their food tracker . . . I am so grateful how much easier the Spark Food Tracker is. I started working out everyday last week, and then remembered that I should create a Spark account again. I am so grateful that I did. I am already starting to feel the effects of more water, more exercise, and better food. My goal is to lose 30 pounds by the time my husband returns in July! So happy to be here!!

Hello, my name is Karen, I live in Anchorage, Alaska. I recently moved here from a small town in Alaska. How can I enjoy the big city and its many diversions if I am so overweight and unhealthy I can't move? I have a lot of plans and dreams: getting a fulfilling job, meeting lots of new people, joining fun and interesting groups, enjoying the sights and sounds of a big town. Starting off my adventure with an on-line course of study to gain the fulfilling job. Reaching out to religious groups and friends of friends to meet new people. Finding other people who quilt and enjoy some of the other activities I like seems to be challenging at this moment. I bet in 6 months I will wonder what all the fuss was about. SparkPeople is a group I have chosen for support. I am not the only one and want to hear from others who are striving for their goals like I am. Another aspect of my life is my grown son who is very large and unhealthy. I was unable to teach him how to make healthy choices. This needs to change. I need to learn how to decide between what is good for me in the long term and what will make me feel good in the moment. I need to learn so I can pay it forward.

Hello,
My name is Jennifer and I am from Maryland. I about 11 years ago I had Gastric Bypass surgery and and lost over 150 pounds. I had a tummy tuck and a breast lift and for the first time in my life I felt on top of it. In the middle of losing the weight I met my husband. We got married and then we had children. I had a boy and then we had a girl. It was the girl who did it to me! lol I gained 30 pounds being pregnant with her, and it never came off. Last summer my husband's 14 year old daughter passed away in her sleep after suffering a seizure in her sleep. We were/ are devastated... I have gained even more weight. Now I am up to 243 and I can't stand it! Not because of the number but because I just can't move. It is different for me now because the first time I was over weight I did not know what feeling fit felt like. Now I do so that is a great motivator for me. Also I am tired of wearing sweat clothes and would like to be able to wear my regular clothes again.

Hi my name is Kristen. I'm from PA and a mother of one energetic boy and military wife. I am currently a SAHM while we go through our 4th (and last) deployment. I am a stress eater and have tried many yo-yo diets that did not seem to work or were costly. This is my first official day on Spark people and I can not "weight" to share in the excitement of weight loss! I am currently trying to open a cupcakery which makes weight loss even harder. Hi, I'm Jennifer and I live in the Bay Area, CA. I am 33, married and have two children 5 and 1 the end of this month. I work full time outside of the home in a stressful office. I have a history of binge eating/emotional eating.

I have had success with Sparkpeople in the past. I lost 80 pounds before on Spark, and I am here to do it again. I find the first month the hardest, but once you get in the swing of things, it becomes routine and much easier.

I decided to join this group because I recommitted to Spark on 4/1/13. So today is Day 6. My own personal challenges starting out are to exercise a minimum of 4 days a week, to drink 130oz of water daily and to not eat anything chocolate or containing chocolate for 90 days!!! Looking forward to getting to know you all and join you in your journey to healthy! emoticon

Hi I'm Clint and I am trying to lose 10-15 lbs. I work as a software engineer and sit at a computer all day which is a good bit of the problem. Stress from the job also spurs me to eat and it is mostly unhealthy stuff (chips,etc.). I started at Lifetime fitness about 1 month ago and can already see the difference which is encouraging. My name is Kelly and I am a mom of 3. when I realized I was back at the same weight I was when I delivered my youngest child (2 years after she was born!) I decided it was time for me to get rid of all this extra weight! I have lost 11 lbs so far and would like to lose about 70 more.

Hello Everyone,

My name is Matthew and I've been overweight my entire life. As I kid most of the habit I developed were unhealthy. I was not active, drank a lot of sugared drinks and ate very unhealthy. These habits have stayed with me and I've never been able to make the long term changes to stop that. I'm around the heaviest I have ever been and as my age starts to creep up on me I have more and more problems with my weight and health that are starting to become very serious. At one point I even underwent gastric bypass surgery that was successful at first, but after only a few months I gained all the weight back. That was about 12 years ago and I've gained an additional 70 pounds over the years since then.
I work in IT so I have a very sedentary work with long hours that keeps me in a chair for up to 12 hours a day.
I joined SparkPeople to help in my fight against weight and hopefully find resources that will finally help me overcome these challenges and make changes. I know my weight keeps me from a lot of things that I really want to experience and contributes to depression and self esteem issues. Really my weight affects every part of my life and I want to change that. I want to get my LIFE back and actually be able to enjoy the LIFE I have left.

Hi, My name is Pam. I lost weight while going through a divorce and having issues with IBS. My life calmed down (well sort of!) and I put all the weight back on plus more. I am now struggling with the scale going up and my clothes not fitting. I have trouble sticking to a plan, tend to grab quick, unhealthy meals, take-out, and really enjoy wine. I plan to work on watching my calories and trying to squeeze fitness into my life. I hope this site helps me to become accountable.

Hi Everyone. My name is Rebecca and I am very excited to start my journey to forever healthy. I am aiming for daily goals right now, track food, get to the gym and plan some me time each day. I am a stay at home Mom who is about to be unemployed- our only child leaves for college in late June. We are an active duty military family and love our hectic lifestyle. Stephanie here, I have lots of weight to get rid of. I saw a post today on Facebook I believe it was I'm not losing weight, I'm getting rid of it. Because I don't plan on finding it again.
It's nice to meet you all and have a team to encourage each other. Bekah you can do it! I quit smoking on March 10, it's been a battle against cravings but it has been worth it.
We can all do this no matter how long or short our road to the finish is!

Hi everyone, Bekah here!

I am excited to have found this program and look forward to getting my life back and living the way I want to! I have a long journey ahead of me, but I know I can do it! I would like to loose about 100 lbs by this time next year, and while I know it won't be easy I know the work will be worth it.

I am setting small goals along the way and my first is to loose 50lbs before my wedding in October. i have met and agreed to marry my best friend and I know that with his support and that of the rest of my family I can do anything.

I am also a smoker, but not for long... I have set a quit date of April 15th and I have every intention of keeping that promise to myself and sticking with it!

I look forward to working towards my goals with all of you!

Hi, Im Alisha. Im from Ontario, Canada. Ive started on Spark to keep myself accountable for what I eat. (last week I had a splurge week, and it was pretty bad).

I want to lose another 40lbs still, to date (since October 2012) I have lost 80 lbs. I have a 6 month old son, and I want to get healthy to show him how to live a happy healthy lifestyle.

My hubby is one of my motivators, I make him eat healthy and work out every day. I make my own baby food, so my son eats nothing processed (thus far) besides baby mum-mums.

Im a beachbody program junkie. If your wondering what I am working on its Chalean Extreme currently, then I will be doing Insanity again after im done Chalean Extreme.

My motto is now "Quit Slackin' and Make Sh*t Happen" because I use to start a program, or a "new years resolution" and always quit after a month. not this time. This is a life change.

Hey everyone, my name is Kasi and I'm from Chicago. I've always said that there's a certain weight where I say "Whoops, that's as heavy as I'll let myself get. I'd better lose a few pounds" but recently I discovered that not only have I hit that weight, I've surpassed it. I would like to lose 25lbs so I can look good in a bikini again... and be the actual weight on my driver's license!

My name is Heather, I am married and stay home with my three kids. I am wanting to lose around 30 pounds, but more importantly, I want to stop feeling so tired and apathetic about life. I am really excited about the community aspect of this site, as I am in a temporary living situation (in a teeny-tiny town) for my husband's schooling, and am currently without friends. It's driving me a bit crazy!! I am in an odd situation where all I have is time, with nothing to do, so I figure it's a perfect time to focus on health. So I guess that's a huge bonus. The downside is that I am just so bored out of my mind and it has made me somewhat depressed and lazy, which has made it hard to have any kind of motivation. However, we are moving in three months back to the town I grew up in, so hello motivation! :) Anyway, I'm excited to meet you all, and I hope we can encourage each other to be our best selves, especially after the all this fresh motivation wears off and we're just doing the hard work of it!

My name is Jennifer. I live in Memphis. I'm 57 and work. I have grown kids, little kids at home that we adopted, grandkids, step kids, and a great grandkid due in September.

I lost about 30 pounds with Sparkpeople several years ago. I have changed jobs, moved, gotten older, had health problems, been sedentary, and whatever other excuse I could hang on to to gain back a good bit of the weight over time.

I need to lose at least 14 pounds to have a healthy BMI. Since SP worked before, I expect it will work again.

It's been a over five years since I've been on here. I wanted to go through the program again, so I'm starting over.

I am thankful.

Hi, I am Jane from Massachusetts. I am have been married for 20 years. I have b/g twins that will be 14 soon. My fam has been hit hard by the economy. My husband andI have each been laid off twice. I am still unemployed and my husband is doing consulting inTX. The busy kids and husband away and tight on money it makes everything harder - starting my own new career, healthy supports like gym, etc. So, trying to get back to improving me, my health and my family here.
Fighting with fibromyalgia pain too.

Hello everyone,

My name is Laurie. I just turned 30 in February and I have a 2 year old daughter. My husband and I would like to add to the family but I would really like to lose weight first. My first pregnancy I had a greater risk of complications due to my obesity and I am 40 lbs heavier now. I would also like to start being more active and be in better shape for my daughter. I was sitting on the floor with her doing Easter crafts yesterday and I literally had to get up in stages because I was so stiff and sore from sitting on the floor for only 15 minutes. I have a follow up doctor appointment in June and I don't want to get the evil eye again. I would love to hear "I am pleased with the changes you have made keep up the good work." So I am looking forward to really getting it in gear and focusing on my healthy lifestyle changes/goals. So good luck to everyone and I am off to go set up my sparkpage.

Hi new Sparkfriends! This is my second time around. I became very busy after deciding to go back to school to complete my Bachelors and went right into my Masters program. The Masters level was full of reading, writing, presentations, internships, etc... Not to mention working almost full time at my paid job! Sadly, I gained back all my weight and then some. So, today I decided to delete my account and start over. (realistically, I am procrastinating on studying for my exam for tonight by re-establishing my account - LOL). I graduate in early May, so one more month of school left! I want to get back into the healthy habits I use to have during my first Spark run by the time I graduate and start looking for that career job! Oh, I am married for 17 years and have 3 amazingly wonderful kids!

Hi Kristen,
Nice to meet you. I hope this Spark thing works. I think the accountability is good. I was always very thin pretty much up until the 4th or 5th kid. We have 5. And it was all down hill after that. I am hoping that even just putting my food in the counter and putting my exercise in will help. Some of my kids want to walk with me. So we will see. We are just so busy it is sometimes hard to slow down and follow through. We are always busy.

Hello. I am Denise. My husband and I have been married for 21 years and I am a Mom of several kids in various ages and stages and so busyness has caused me to become a little complacent about exercise, eating and weight loss. You would think with all the running that we do that it would keep me thin, but we just juggle a lot. So my Mom introduced me to this site and I am hoping that it will be a tool that will help. She is doing it too. So we will see.

I have weighed the same for a few years now. I eat fairly healthy, although sweets are my downfall. I do eat in moderation. On Saturday, my husband and I went shopping. I needed some new pants, since I am not sweat- pant or leggins-in-public kind of person. I was unable to find a pair of pants that fit. I am usually a size 16, but they were too tight in the thigh. I am hoping to be motivated to exercise more to reduce the fat in my belly and thighs. I hate exercising!

Hello Everyone, My name is Jen. Created a sparkpage. Check. I can't wait to get this show on the road!! Yesterday I walked about 1 mile, today, hopefully I can do the same even though it is raining out. Maybe I will do a video or walk where I am sheltered from the rain... there are no more excuses!! I will do this. As to keeping up with posting everyday and tracking what I eat, and following sparkpeople, I can do that also. As long as I keep it in the forefront of my mind. emoticon I just wanted to stop by and say Hello! I am a little nervous, been trying to get rid of this weight I gain because of laziness, knowing that I need to move to keep it off. I want to thank all the people who welcomed me and I am committed to get to my first goal. My name is Sara and I don't have a gun, the saragun is a short for Gunther.
