Hi my name is Cassie, I'm 26 and quickly turning into a fitness freak.
My goal was about fifty pounds to lose when I joined spark people three weeks ago and I have already lost seven. I'm currently on week three of couch to 5k (as a base. I plan on increasing my running distance steadily from there on out) and on top of that I have a personal trainer and try to log about 225 minutes a week of cardio on the elliptical trainers at the gym. I'm really making progress provided I don't hit a bump in the road

Hi, Glenn. I know what you mean about the struggle with caloric intake. It seems like I have to eat so little to lose even half a pound. Slow and steady, I guess, and maybe we will get used to it and not be so hungry. I've lost three pounds since March 1, mostly thanks to SparkPeople. emoticon

Hello, I'm Glen. I found "Sparkpeople" while reading an article in Fitness America, while exercising. I had tried another online support system, but interfacing with it was not easy, and I stopped visiting the site daily. I'm a 44 year old, single man and I've been over-weight for most of my life. I'm here because I'd like to weigh less. Specifically, I'd like to weigh less than 300lbs. I started Sparkpeople at 331lbs (I have other weightloss accomplishments - having reached my highest weight of 432.2lbs back in February 2010 before making the committment to weigh less.), but after spending all of my 30's above 300lbs, I want to spend part of my 40's, below that figure. "Sparkpeople" has already helped by showing me through calorie counts, that even though I'm eating low-carb, the reason I am not getting closer to my goal, is because I am exceeding my daily calorie allotment.
It takes me a long time to change something. I usually have to think about it for a long time. And most of the time, I get angry about the the truth of it, but then I get motivated and I make the change. I hope that "Sparkpeople" will help me reach my goal. All of them!

Hello everyone, my name is Heather. I started last sunday and for the first week primarily used my phone app to track my food, water and fitness. I know it takes more (for me) to stick with changes so I am checking out the on line site and groups. Thinking about joining more teams and/or challenges. I am struggling with honestly tracking EVERYTHING I eat but am working at it. Just wanted to say hello and let everyone know it looks like you are all doing great so far :)

Hi! I'm Chris. My partner and I joined about a week ago with a commitment to lose weight before taking our newly adopted son to Disney in Sept. Right now, I am pretty sure that I won't fit on some of the rides, and I refuse to have that happen! So...although I need to drop 130 lbs altogether, I'm shooting for a 50 lb loss to allow us to enjoy Disney!

Hi, my name is Jenn and I live in California. I have 2 kids (13 & 10). I hope to loose about 50 pounds by Aug ( hopefully) if not for sure by Dec. I have also tried every diet known, had success with ww ( lost 16 pds) and put it all back on and then some. I pray this is the year I get to my goal of a size 8, right now I'm a tight size 12 :( I need all the help I can get, as I get lazy and bored and that's why I think SP is going to help, I don't have to eat the same foods for an endless amount of time, I can eat whatever just in moderation. I finished this week with walking a min of 30 minutes on my treadmill and using a smaller plate for my meals. Hopefully this will help.

Glad to meet all of you,

Jenn

Hello, I'm Tamara, and I'm back to try SparkPeople for the third time. I know it's the best program out there; I've just had a habit of falling out of attendance because I've been lazy, mostly, but also because I've had some life crises. I'm back and committed to being here daily!

Hi, I'm Pam and I live in New Zealand. I am either walking (with a bit of jogging thrown in for good measure) or doing a zumba workout everyday along with tracking my food intake (the best way to stop the unhealthy treats, etc) and then writing it all down in a note book, trying to work out calories eaten and burnt. Then I saw Sparkpeople and realised that it is all done for you as you enter the details in - great stuff! The stories and articles and reviews are great too.

I am travelling to the US mid year for six weeks so hope to have all my good habits well formed by then so that I don't slip too much!

New to Arizona, never had a pool before. Since they don't sell loose fitting swimsuits I guess I'd better get going with the healthy lifestyle I've been promising myself. Done with the cancer, the kids have moved out and the vacation is over (literally), so no more excuses. I'm ready!

Happy Friday!

My name is Mo! I've used sparkpeople in the past and have had great success with it. I pulled up my old page and realized that I hadn't updated the thing in over 4 years! Anyway, I decided to start over fresh. I've put on some pounds and I'm now striving to live a healthier lifestyle. My ultimate goal is to get back down to 145!

I joined Sparkpeople today! A friend recommended it a couple of years ago and now I'm finally ready! I have quite a bit of weight to lose (at least 60 lbs) and am looking forward to Sparkpeople to help me stay motivated! My biggest challenge will be returning to my previous level of activity now that I am living with a herniated disc and ++ back pain. I know my weight is not helping!!!

My other challenge will be impulse control - especially at work and especially when it comes to baked goods!!!

Happy to be here and 'meet' you all!

peace
shlomit

New to Spark. I have tried every fad diet under the sun!! I have lost and gained the same 35lbs over the last 11 years. Yet I have never reached my goal. My husband and I started a weight loss plan together at the begging of this year. He has lost 20lbs and I have lost 5lbs!! I know I could go back on one of the many fad diets I have done to catch up with him, but I also know the end results to that idea. I pray that Spark will be my forever life changer. emoticon

Thanks Lasarre. It's easy to forget first things first: baby steps. :) Good luck Momma4Jesus - getting started always seems to be the most difficult. Hi Gina, and good luck to you as well. MBtheGirl - best of wishes to you and looking forward to all our progress. Cheers.

I am a grad student, trying to fit in a healthy lifestyle in my busy schedule. My weight has gone up and down so much in my college years, and I would like to get back to a place where I feel good looking in a mirror. I am hoping to do this by my wedding in August!

Hi, I'm Gina. This is pretty much my 50th attempt to lose weight and get healthy. I have a little girl who will be 2 in April and I want to be around to see her grow for as long as possible. I do hope my husband will join me on my weightloss, but this is all about myself and hopefully a light will turn on for him. Good luck everyone!

Hello! I just joined tonight. Not sure how it all works, but ready to start working out. I am turning 40 this week. I am home with my two kids without my hubby during the week because he works three hours from here. It is hard to get motivated. I don't really have a workout plan yet, but I thought joining this site would help me get started. I live in Altus, OK.

Hi. Just looking to be able to maintain some type of fitness routine. Have attempted *multiple* times and have not been successful. Hoping that this site can help with that. Thanks and good luck.
