Hi Everyone, It has been a long time since I have been here on sparkpeople but I am back. I have done just about every low carb "diet" known to man. I am currently Whole30, which is working for me, but always looking to gain knowledge. Looking forward to reading up and jumping into conversations on this subject! emoticon

hi I am not new to spark people just have not been on in a vary long time my life took over. I am however a little new to the keto life. my husband and I have been trying to do this for that last 2 months as always he rock at the weight loss just because he is a man I get that. that being said I have loss about 15 lb I am so happy about that. i do take med that make me gain so I know it is a battle for me. i was on 3 blood presser med but now done to 2 working on getting off of them. I am so happy that spark people have keto teams because i know that they are a big help when you have others that are with you in this life still and have some of the same thing going on in there life.

Elizabeth welcome!! It will be interesting to see how your keto journey goes since weight loss is not your primary goal, as it is for many of us.

Athletes that need to exert lots of energy over long durations (like distance running) seem to do quite well using Ketones for fuel rather than carbs.

Thank you so much Nightskystar! I am feeling better than I have in a long time physically and mentally.
I did not know that about the ironman. My hubby has done a few and is hoping to do another one next summer in Quebec. I did my first triathlon this past summer! Not an ironman by any means, lol....it was a sprint distance. But, I spent the summer swimming biking and running. Best summer I've had in a long time.
I hope that I am able to keep on with the Keto way.

Hello everyone. I joined SparkPeople some time ago but never really did much with it. I have always been up and down in my weight, never quite making it go my goal.

Last Spring I decided to lower my carb intake. I am a carb lover so this was not an easy feat. But the results were awesome and I have been eating this way ever since. I have lost 25 lbs, and am lower than I have been in a very long time. I passed my goal and I am on a roll.

I have been a runner for many years. It definitely was a bit of a challenge at first, but after awhile I guess my body adapted and now I run with lots of energy and being this much lighter has really helped.

Anyway, I was excited to log back in to the Sparkpeople website and discover that there are teams for the keto/low carb diet! Looking forward to getting to know you all!
