It is my view that eating Keto is healthy, and great for controlling, or helping control type-2 diabetes to a great degree. Even if you don't fully embrace Keto, you will see how to eat healthier.

I view the excessive carbs in North American food as being a big issue. Sugar is carbs refined to an extreme degree. White crystals ... 100% carbs. The more refined something is to get to its carbs, the harder it is on blood sugar. Wheat also similar. Refined to a white powder.

Keto is extreme in how low carb it is, it is focused, if you have a higher carb budget for a day it can help lower particular meals. However I think you will find you feel better, and loose weight, and have more even energy across the day very much lower carbs.

If you saw my recent breakfast post on the general chat discussion, you will see I had waffles with syrup and strawberries for breakfast, and it had 7 grams of carbs. The North American adult average is 330 grams a day. Keto is about 20 for women. So virtually zero in comparison.

But even if you go low carb, around 70 grams a day it will make a huge difference, and 7 for breakfast leaves a lot then for the rest of such a day.

If you are taking any diabetes meds to lower you blood sugar, then measure blood sugar and take care. If you don't eat as many carbs you don't need as much medication. I went from maximum dosage of pills possible to zero in three days. I found that my blood sugar was under control with no medication, ... I just forgot to take my pills and was very surprised.
