theres lots of recipes for it online. i dont like it. i dont like cream cheese unless its IN something else. i bought boursin once on the advice of my coach..and threw out most of it. and the little tiny package was $6!!! i cant afford that.
Aldi has cream cheese for 99 cents for 8 ounces...so if you like it yes you can make it.
just google boursin cheese recipes..

regarding the expensive boursin cheese, you can make your own. I haven't bought any. From what I read basically cream cheese (Philly for me) and butter with some flavorings. I like chives and garlic and maybe some green onion.

Kathleen..mine used to have pecans and macadamias on it. but first the macs are FAR too expensive, and second..I CANT STAY OUT OF THEM..lol..so they have been removed. but if you have more willpower than I you might want to get them.

word of warning: I know a lot of people use peanuts and peanut butter. its a legume. technically a no no on keto...but if you choose to use it, or almond butter...BE AWARE...they put a LOT of sugar in these. look for a no sugar one. and many of the non sugar ones have xylitol, so if you have pets, BEWARE it will kill them...even a tiny amount.
and also..sadly for me, cashews (my second favorite nut next to macadamias) are a no no. sigh. WAY too high in carbs.

HOLLY. Your shopping list is super helpful. This will help me make a few changes to my list for better buying at the supermarket. No Aldis here but I shop at Walmart Superstore. Thanks

Hi and WELCOME!!!

my shopping list:
full fat cream cheese
butter
bacon'
bacon
more bacon
hillshire farms summer sausage
aldi "simms beef sticks"
fatty meats(fatty beef steaks. well fatted pork. if you like chicken, drumsticks and thighs WITH THE SKIN "ON
eggs. more eggs. i buy 5 dozen every 2 weeks.
Heavy whipping cream
full fat cheese
boursin cheese if you like it and can afford it.
pepperoni
breakfast sausage

Hints:

check the meat you buy. Bacon...do NOT get flavored, it has sugar. IF THEY CURE WITH SUGAR..its fine. the cure is on the outside and its widely agreed that gets chipped off and you dont get any. they have to put it on the label, but its tiny.

dont fall for the hype. people go nuts getting "uncured bacon" and pay ridiculous amounts of money for it. its pork belly. still expensive, but not nearly as much when they call it "pork belly" instead of "uncured bacon". my butcher chuckles every time i ask him for it. he keeps 3 pound unsliced bellies in his freezer for me (its all frozen..they have to slice it frozen..but he keeps it in chunks for me and i smoke or roast it all at once)

check labels. some pepperoni and bacon and sausage will have carbs. get the zero carb stuff. it still may have some, but its a good indicator that there is no sugar added. just the curing sugar.

once in a while i get pork rinds. at Aldi they are called "ciccarones" i think? and in with the chips. i think they smell like..well..butt. but if you put butter and cinnamon on them they satisfy the crunch
DO NOT BUY pre grated cheese!!!! its got potato starch or another carb in it to prevent sticking. grate your own..it only takes minutes. Again, Aldi has good prices on cheese..and their cheese is GOOD. i buy block parmesan there, as well. and grate my own with a microplane.

Many people claim you need only grass fed meats and butter. i call bull____ on that..i've lost 130 eating the less expensive regular. if you can afford it and you like it fine..but its not necessary.

I use raw spinach for salads, but romaine is good too. i get mushrooms...once in a while zucchini or broccoli (i dont much like broccoli so its rare) and many like cauliflower.

I do most of my shopping at Aldi..they have better prices on the above and i am poor so thats where i shop

bear in mind. the labels on eggs, and cheese, and cream, etc say ZERO CARBS. they lie. the government says they can say zero if a serving has less than one carb. but they all add up. have 4 oz of cheese you have ALMOST 4 carbs. and thats a lot when you only get 20. each egg has half a carb. count it. heavy cream has i think a carb in 2 tablespoons? cant remember...but it does. count it. this is how you will be successful....

you can do this!! really!! we are here to help!!!

I am fairly new to keto, I have been reading about it for the past week and though I haven't jumped in fully yet I have been sort of testing the waters and I am ready to start a full keto lifestyle. I'm about to go to the store now to pick up some keto foods for the week. Any tips or suggestions?
