Thank you all for the welcome and suggestions! I looked up the cloud bread, and will try to make some this eve. I generally keep some almond flour bread around, but it gets a bit boring.

Welcome!

I'm going to echo the others, a piece of bread isn't a great treat for Keto. Years ago I did low carb, where I was still eating some whole grain bread or crackers or higher carb veggies. Ultimately I couldn't maintain it because I really wanted the carbs still. Six months in and I can tell that when I want carbs, it's rarely the actual carbs, is that I'm hungry. Eating carbs leads to wanting more carbs. Get em out totally and you will find yourself rarely thinking twice about them. For me personally, even a small amount of grains gives me tummy issues and bloating. Perhaps that is why your clothes aren't feeling different?

Congrats on your 15 pound loss!

Hi, Ketocurious! I'm new to keto, too, but I echo Nightstarsky's advice--bread is a bad choice for a once-a-week treat. You are throwing yourself out of keto for a very minor treat. Instead, look at some of the many "fat bomb" recipes available that will quickly feel like you are indulging the HECK out of yourself--chocolates or cinnamon buns or all kinds of other grain-free, protein-and-fat based goodies that will satisfy that urge to splurge. Yesterday I made chocolate chip cookie dough that are 2 grams of carb per serving. Much better than bread! Here's a link:

welcome ketocurious!!
that once a week slice is probably not a good choice..if you need something like that try some cloud bread or another keto bread. even one slice will keep you wanting it...
i was the carb queen. i own a bakery and bake bread, cakes, cookies, pies day in and day out...and since i quit carbs cold turkey, after the first week never wanted another.

i wish i liked the keto foods better..i dont..lol. but i like the results!!

edited to add..way to go on the 15 pounds..thats fantastic!!

I've been doing keto for 4 weeks now - 2 serious weeks, if you count the time it took to get my macros in balance. I have lost 15 pounds so far. I am not seeing or feeling it yet :-( My jeans are still a snug fit, but the scale and tape measure tell me I'm doing something right!

I really like the wide variety of acceptable foods on the keto plan, though I do still miss my carbs. My once a week treat is a slice of multi-grain toast.

I look forward to getting to know you all, and hearing your keto tips and suggestions! And recipes! Yes, definitely enjoy looking at new and different keto recips!
