Thanks Holly -- I have had ICE (I think). Seems to me that it had sugar or sweetener in it. But I'll check again.

Holly, I think Aldi is only in the Midwest. Drat! Are those drinks specially an Aldi's brand, or some other brand? Hoping they might be something I could get out here in Calif., because I obsess about blackberries & would eat them by the ton if I had vines in my back yard! emoticon

the bacon is fine. you are in the first few weeks, EAT ON PLAN TILL YOU ARE SATISFIED. Dont worry about calories, and going higher in fat is ok..just dont go higher in carbs!!
I miss fruit, i wont lie. Unlike James, a few berries wont do it for me. thats what got me here in the first place..i want big quantities..and the worst thing is i have raspberry and strawberry and blackberry and blueberries in my yard free for the taking..and i dont dare.
So, I found some subs. Aldi, if you have one near, has a "fit and active" zero carb tropical mango drink and strawberry lemonade drink with ZERO carbs or cals. they are very fruity tasting, and when i cant stand my fruit craving any longer i open one up. It really helps me..hoping that might help you, too!!

DISPATCH91,
Great post. You are so right. Carbs are addictive, it is nature's way of packing on body fat in the summer, in order to survive the winter. It is breaking an addiction, one we are genetically programmed for.

But these days surviving winter is not the challenge it used to be, so fattening up isn't required.

Somehow I missed the question of fresh fruit.

In my mind summer foods (high carb foods) are a thing to fatten up for the winter.

That said, what about fruit, which is mostly sweet, and higher carb? For myself, I try to eat all low carb things. In general, and not thinking about fruit in particular, I aim for 6% of the foods weight as carbs, or less.

What fruits are there like that? Raspberries, strawberries, and blackberries. I eat all three in small quantity.

James

My go to is port rinds especially the hot ones. Just look at the carb count on the back because not all pork rinds are created equal. There is a great recipe on Pinterest for making cheese crisps, easy and very filling. Pickles and don't forget to take a slug of pickle juice to help with your electrolytes. A lot of times when I would get a bit sick to my stomach a slurp of pickle juice did away with it.

You will be hungry for the first few days, it's your body's way of trying to get you to feed it carbs. It isn't use to burning fat only carbs then stroreing everything else as fat. Give it 3 days. Also for your breakfast if you can eat eggs, do an omelet with a side of bacon and I bet you will feel fuller. Don't forget your salads with full fat dressing, my choice is always Ranch. You need the fat to feel full so don't forget to cook with butter or add butter.

Hang in there and read, watch YouTube videos on other Keto users they have a lot of good info for you but you have to do the research.

This is just my second day doing keto and I had a bacon binge. I got very hungry in the late afternoon while I was cooking up 6 lbs of bacon for a catering job. First I tried having my serving of mixed nuts that I had already planned on, but the bacon started calling my name . . .

There were also some tangerines, some chocolate bars and a cake that were beckoning me, but I only gave into the bacon . . . .12 slices of bacon later, and I was full! Once I tracked it all, my carbs were just fine, but my fat and protein were about 20% higher than the high end of my target.

So, on the one hand I feel good about not eating carbs when I was having those cravings, but eating 1/2 of my daily calories n one item (bacon) is not balanced, and I feel disappointed with myself.

I guess I did something wrong that I was hungry at 4:00? Do you guys have any suggestions for go to snack foods to tide me over the rough times until I figure out my body's schedule?

Go on Pintrest and look for a low carb fruit list. Then you can decide if you have enough carbs left in your day to have some fruit. Here is one list that I found. stylecaster.com/beauty/low-carb-frui
ts
-high-carb-fruits/

I do have a bit of cantaloupe or watermelon but not more than about a 1/3 of a cup and it satisfies me. I really don't crave it and it may be your sugar cravings that is making you want fruit. When those are gone you may find you are doing good and are ok for not having fruit.

As long as you are in your macros you should be losing. Lots of great recipes and info on Pintrest.

Hi!

that would be your choice once you reach your goal. Some people switch to Paleo, for now, you can count in a few berries, tomatoes, avocados and so on if they fit your macros :)

My hubby has been doing keto for 3 weeks, and I have been a low carb Weight Watcher for awhile. Today I decided to cross over and join him for awhile.

However, fruit! Am i giving up all fruit forever? is there a stage in this program when whole fresh fruit fits in?
