Thanks James!! I looked at the overall picture today...and i've lost 18.2 pounds since october 27 on this....so where i'm thinking i'm stalled, i'm NOT. i've always lost slowly except for once...so i need to relax and realize slow is actually better...and its working as it should.

NIGHTSKYSTAR,

Wow, you've already lost 59 pounds! Wow. That has to be motivating.

Weight loss is a complicated issue. Insulin is a hormone to lower blood sugar, but it does so my storing excess blood sugar into cells, of course into fat cells. So carbs are best avoided for fat loss.

Then as GAMMAH pointed out, low carb is not a license to eat anything else, you still need to eat fewer calories than you burn. The there is exercise, with your bead knee(s) that is not so easy. However weight loss is mostly about food, so you're still good.

Then comes medication, which can also mess with various things.

Stay motivated. You are doing great.

James

well i found something in the article that could well be my problem. From the Lyme, i have permanent cardiac damage. I MUST take a daily full strength aspiring. strike one. strike 2...when i was 16 i was kicked by a cow and lost my right knee. finally had it replaced in 2013...and due to it, and the extra weight on my left leg, which now also needs a replacement, i have to take NSAIDS.
at least i know..and i've never been able to lose much on anything else..so far my weight is lower now than its been since 2005...so i'm not quitting...but ARGH!!

Good info! I like that it clearly makes the link between lack of weight loss and elevated insulin levels... additionally, the points highlighting that weight loss is about so much more than calories and exercise is very helpful.

Thanks for the share!

Dr. Jason Fung: "Holy consensus, Batman. With so many 'experts' from Michelle Obama to the USDA to virtually all of the medical professionals (including doctors and dieticians) agreeing that 'Eat Less, Move More' is the way to go, you might think that it is 100% unquestionably true. But here's a queer thought... if we all agree that we know the cure for obesity, and we've spent billions on educations and programs - why are we getting fatter? In other words, why does this 'cure' suck so bad?

Found a great site on weight stall on keto. Will post link but main thing that impressed me was not to eat more fat than you can burn.
