Welcome all.. it is a busy time of year!

Welcome Marloe! It's always good to see others on this healthful path. LC and Keto are definitely healthy choices.

I love the Keto Clarity book! I'll have to look for the other one, it sounds good too.

I've read some great info on the usefulness of ketogenic diets for epileptics, and others as well. I think they're using it for autistic children, too? not certain of that one. I believe, if memory serves, that it's the Mayo Clinic which is advocating it. Probably not the only ones. You could research that a bit.

Since keto is just a furtherance of the LC lifestyle, anyone who's interested in it should also check in with those forums: Atkins, et al. We're all pretty much on the same page!

Morning All!
I've started Keto to help reduce my seizures. Any other of my epileptic pals on this forum? Anyone doing the Modified Atkins Diet recommended by neurologists? I'd appreciate any connection with anyone who is doing this for the added bonus of seizure reduction.

Hi my name is Marloe and I come from South Africa. A professor of sports science in our country Prof Tim Noakes has come out with a book called The Real Meal Revolution Cookbook which is all about LCHF (Low Carb High Fat). He calls the style of eating Banting after the first low carber that we have read about. My brother has lost a load of weight this year doing this diet and is swimming better than he did when he was young.
I have been with Spark People for a number of years and I still have to reach my goal weight which is a l-o-n-g way off. I have been in and out of diets and then tried to go my own way with my own diet style but alas, I have come to the conclusion that I am seriously carb intolerant and like it or not, I need to do this "Revolution". I bought the book and it is a beauty, with gorgeous recipes written by two chefs who are both extreme athletes. Fat is their preferred fuel for marathon swims and runs.
I am here for company on this road, so hello to you all.
