Hi, Sandy, welcome to the team! Feel free to check out our boards, challenges and pictures. Post some of your recent projects as well! We are a small group here on Spark People and I haven't been quite as active to this group as I would like but I'm hoping to change that during the summertime. Congrats on 80 pounds gone...fantastic! Enjoy your Sunday!

My name is Sandy,
I have been on SP for over a year but don't keep in touch very well. When I saw this team, it peaked my interest because my favorite thing in the world is decorating my house on the cheap and that means lots of Trash to Treasure.
I am 60 yrs. old, have lost 80 pounds and have about another 80 to go. My exercise routine varies a lot because I have joint problems. I walk anywhere from 1/4 to 1 mile a day. I also exercise with the Wii on occasion.
I am really looking forward to talking to like minded people and keeping up with my weight loss.

Hi Jeanette!

Welcome to the team! We are a new team, so not too active yet, but I'm working on improvements for the team. Check out the fitness challenge section when you get a chance...it's just a little area that I think will help us in staying accountable with our fitness. Have a look around and feel free to comment, start new threads and post pictures of any projects!

Have a great Monday!

Hello my name is Jeanette. I am currently a sahm who love to decorate and find hidden treasures in what others throw away. My favorite piece is a home made ladder from an old tree house someone was gonna throw out but I rescued and brought home. It now sits in my living room with a quilt my boyfriends mother made years ago over one of the rungs. I love to decorate with stuff I find outside. My ceiling over Christmas had branches hanging with lights and snowflakes and everyone who saw it loved it. Also like checking out thrift stores and flea markets for new "junk" and I am not above stopping along the road and rescuing odd furniture from someones trash. I look forward to getting to know everyone and getting and sharing new ideas.

Hello everyone! My name is Sandra and I live in the Hoosier Heartland. Thriftiness was instilled in me by my mother, and even as a child I enjoyed going to Goodwill, yard sales and flea markets to find special treasures. Now as an adult, I will stand before the objects that catch my eye, one by one, and try to mentally picture what I could make with it. It really helps to get my creative juices flowing. When I'm not able to go thrifting, I take a peek at what's happening around the Web and pin my faves to Pinterest. I also love spending hrs. at the library browsing the shelves, esp. the craft and décor section. There's actually an older series called "Trash to Treasure" that showcases some pretty remarkable stuff.

Anyways, glad to be here, and looking forward to getting to know you all. Remember, do something creative every day!!!

Hello everyone!
A wee bit about me..........
I became a single parent in 1980. Raised my family and now I am an empty nester. Though my daughter lives close by with her hubby and my granddaughter. Trash 2 Treasure, yes I have done my share of re-inventing an item or two.

Picture of my old dinnette set can be viewed by clicking on Photos found, on right hand side of the teams main page under Blogs / Links /Photos / Announcements. Sorry don't have a before and after picture at present.

Hi everyone! I have always made things homemade or refurbished. This sounds like a great group.I just furnished my apartment from scratch and used throwaways with a little spit and polish and paint.. ...and it looks cute!

Good morning ladies.
My name is Karen and I know Jennifer from another team. I saw her blog and it led me here. I like what you all are accomplishing, it's awesome. You all are so inspiring!
I am in my mid 50's and I used to do a lot of creating treasure from trash. My husband and I had a house built years ago and we did much of the finish work. I designed the kitchen etc. I also did a lot of craft sewing and made things I needed. I have done many different crafts over the years including making jewelry. When the kids were little we wanted to make a rocking dog instead of a rocking horse, so we did and it came out great.
Oh, I have made many things from what was "trash" to others, but I've been limited by pain for so many years. I think you all might help me to find ways to use old things again.

HI Jennifer. Debbie, I am also a Debbie, Deb, Deborah - whatever. This sounds like a good team. I am a seamstress, but I can do most anything. My husband was a builder/remodeler so I learned many things from working with him.(He was also a paramedic/police officer) And I learned from those jobs too. My interests are many: sewing, any needlecraft actually, knitting, crochet, reading, painting, home improvement, cooking, etc I recently installed my own dishwasher, can lay ceramic tile, put in baseboard and crown molding, do some plumbing and electrical work. Almost anything. So, I guess I'll see you around!

I am Debbie and I live in Salt Lake City, Utah. I am not a Mormon so I am out of the majority here. I have never taken something from trash and made it into a treasure but I love to learn new things. My kitchen is in the 1960's and 70's the oven and stove top and counters are from the 60's and the wall paper from the 70's. We have put in a new tile floor and a new ceiling fan. I think the sink is from the 60's too because it is the same brown color as the oven and stove top. The counter is the old speckled formica white with gold flecks. I would love to remodel our kitchen and hopefully someday we can afford to. It would be nice to learn how to do it on a tight budget. I would love a new stove top, counter and sink that would be a great start. The oven and stove top work well - they are from a time when things were built to last. The cabinets are nice too - cherry wood - they just need to be refinished. Anyway that's my kitchen story. Hope lots of people join the team.

My name is Jennifer and I live in Central Texas. My husband and I recently completed the building of our home. We did everything ourselves from digging the foundation to painting the walls. We called in friends and family only when we came to a difficult part, such as pouring the concrete and raising the walls. It is a beautiful house and took us two years to complete.

During my designing times, I would really try and budget.....cheap was okay but free was even better. I am a creative person by nature so it wasn't difficult for me to implement ideas into the building of our home. I really tried to think outside the box and use ideas that were never done before. I thought of energy savings and designed my home to have a flow of air naturally, which would assist in heating and cooling.

I will be posting these tips, ideas and savings on the message boards soon. Please introduce yourself and let us know what hobbies you enjoy!
